all the little toys who use rides as a cover to tag will never evolve in life nor in graffiti. i personally don't see a problem in catching a spot as long as you do it ninja status without jeopardizing the ride you're one. i personally never really do it cos i'd rather piece, but to those who do it right... ain't no thang.

Taggers tag because they need to make an impact on a world they don't otherwise have much control, power or respect in. It's a feeble attempt at asserting their existence--that they can make some impact on a world that doesn't give a shit about them. Unfortunate and sad, yes, and sometimes systematic and institutional barriers keep a man down. But it still sucks because it makes this city look like shit. It's so much easier to make an ugly, negative impact than an artful positive intelligent one.
In short, I sort of get why some people do it, but EFFF TAGGING.

everyone hates tagging, but loves twist. even though most of what he did was catch tags. i went to his show at the hammer like 10 years ago or something, dude has a huge mural in the gallery that you can see from westwood and wilshire. walk outside and hes got a tag on a street poll. but i fully agree that using a ride as your cover for tagging is lame.

as dope as tag styles are to look at, tagging on rides ruins the rep for everyone of us that ride in the night. so people on here have a right to be pissed off. it may sound hypocritical but I am too. think about it. even if it's a "discreet" hit up, people still notice it when we've left the parking lot / etc. and they get a negative view of young bike riders especially dark skinned bike riders because it is stereotypical to attribute graf to dark skinned kids when in reality some of the most prolific come from all backgrounds. none the less, is it that you guys dont care about what we all have or are you not seeing the big picture here.... the tagging reflects poorly on Midnight Ridazz in general... that's all of us.... even if it's not a socalled "official" MR ride they attribute "bike gangs" actions to MR because, as I found out the other night on WP we're all lumped together as those midnight bike rider gangs.
I wish you "extremist marketers" (read: taggers, graf artists, vandals) think about it and quit doing it on the rides. It's not a good look. that's why I stopped long ago, and I wish everyone would as well. leaving a place spotless when we ride off is about respect for OURSELVES. all of us. all of you. tagging is over in LA anyways... now you have to rock better and more skilled shit for people to care about you. now it's about getting dope pieces. and you know who this is.
so really, just answer me this, do you guys appreciate what we all share in these rides? do you care about the rep or no?

i really don't have a problem with tagging in itself, as some people actually take the time to make it a work of art for others to enjoy... but kids trying to quickly sneak in these whack little doodles of illegible letters just to rep themselves or their crew is just a waste of the time and money that businesses and the city have to pay to clean them up... not to mention it makes the rest of us look like just as big of douche bags because we happen to be riding with you

I was just glad that after that coward POS tagged the dentist's building, I saw 3 different people piss on it afterwards. Maybe intentional, maybe not, but it very much reminded me of male dogs who take turns marking an area.
When I watch these worthless turds tagging, all I can think about is some small business owner who's going to get to work tomorrow (or Monday) and see the proud "I was here" declaration that took oh so much courage and skill to produce, and have to spend time and money to clean it up. Happy holidays.
I know some people have warm and fuzzy notions of these rides being all-inclusive, but I don't think these douchebags should be tolerated on the rides, let alone welcomed.

me personaly wait till i get home from a ride get a can or to walk around for miles do some outlines tags i dnt like to tag n the ride plus it mite be a burn i heard alot of lil kids talkn about yeah my crew this n that homie did this n blah blah...

That's all I care about, that people don't do it on rides. It will attract unwanted police attention to the bike scene. No thank you. There's plenty of absolutely beautiful fucking street art out there, and these writers had to start somewhere. It's just that noone wants cops scrutinizing riders, so doing it on rides is a bad idea.
I read the other thread - walking up to someone who is tagging and calling them scum is a little bit melodramatic, nor is it ever going to achieve any sort of result. Racist cops are scum. People who fondle little children are scum. Someone who tags has not exactly reached that level.

Someone tagging on a ride I'm on is getting heckled and getting a tall by thrown at their head.
Personally, I love graff and I keep a close on eye on just about everything new in my neighborhood. It's like the fall colors, but year round.
HOWEVER, on a group bike ride, the last thing we need is some stupid shit like that going on. It is too easy for a douchebag reporter or cop to turn the art ride I do with my mom and my kid along for the ride into just another tagger hipster ride that they can harass and ticket.
You steal from all of us when you do this bullshit on rides - those of us who have laid the foundation that your ride is built upon. Don't piss in the well you drink from.

i love graff- but taggin on a ride is a bit of a pussy move and takes the thrill out of doin it cuz its a risk...by doin it infront of other ridazz proves nothing except for the fact that you can tag under the cover of a large group. I mean seriously how down are some of these toys?
