Shimano Nexus 3 adjustment

Well howdy from The Big Easy! It's like fucking mountain biking on the shitty roads here, so thank goodness for the luxurious comfort that is my knobby-tired cruiser. Be proud - I cracked the gooseneck taking a curb the other day. Woo!

Got that fixed, but the 1st and 2nd gears on my Shimano Nexus 3 internal hub keep slipping. Anyone know what gear I'm supposed to put it in when I adjust it? And then am I supposed to just get the little arrow between the two lines on the shifter? One of the lovely volunteers at the Bike Kitchen showed me how to do this a long time ago, but I've forgotten.

 Just to let Ridazz know. Shimano North America is now stocking the Nexus 3-speed rear hub compatible with Shimano's center lock disc rotors.
