I would get that shit built in a year by using a LEGION of drilling machines simultaneously, then sell the machines to CHINA, and make money off the job!
ah, if only i run the the departments of defense and transportation, i'd get spending priorities fixed quick fuckin' smart, and get some grunts digging tunnels instead of ditches (come on boys, let's defend america against foreign oil dependency!)

The transcontinental railroad was built in less than seven years, completed in 1869. Chinese laborers worked 16 hours a day.
If they can build a railroad across the US in seven years, you can finish the subway from Koreatown to Santa Monica in a year easily. If they worked 24/7. Imagine the jobs this project could create.

Shit yeah.
But, the priorities in this state and most of the country still seem to be directed towards automotive traffic.
Voting and deciding what funding goes towards public-transit will involve much thumb-twidling.
But, the second someone introduces a freeway-maintenance measure, the legislature is on it like a pack of wild-dogs!!!
If a commuter line goes down, most could care less, but if the freeway system gets trashed by an earthquake, then many of you will be agreeing with my pro-gun stance.
Peaceful freeway driver one day.
Red-eyed, mutated, beyond road-rage gang of psychopaths that need to be dispatched with a tank!!!
