Your Worst Spill in 2009

Hit a pothole and went endo over the bars dislocating my left shoulder infront of the UCLA medical center on wilshire. Not one doctor walking by when it happened stopped to ask if i was alright.

I thought it was your obligation as a doctor to stop and help if someone is injured, specially if im laying in the middle of the road haha.

Full Moon ride.... over the bars .. bars to the side ... massive bruise .... pain ... I got up and still kept it going ...

it wasn't so much a crash as an epic bail, but you flying down the hill, then off your bike into someones front lawn on the f-ride was hilarious.
as for worst crash for me, probably swerving to avoid a sliding harry and his trailer going down a hill and through a flooded gutter on where the wild things bike, leading to me having my bike slide out from under me. rolled and managed to hit both sides of my head, which knocked me out. split open my temple (which chynna fixed with gauze and massive amounts of black electrical tape), scrapped up my elbow, and melted holes in my bag. i was completely disoriented and easily confused for a long while after that.
a close second would be the kid falling in the crack in front of me on barchopz causing me to hit his bike and go over the handlebars. i landed on my nalgene bottle, which broke a rib or two and whacked my head. ...then jared leto came to see if i was alright and tell me a nice reassuring story about his friend that died from a concussion.

nice......my worst crash would be
1.flying down chengha(however its spelled) pass and turning on yucca at at least 25 and having a front tire blow out
a narrow miss would be flying down chengha(however its spelled) pass agian and having your brakes fail at a red on sunset in the left lane and turning into a hummer in the curb lane on sunset therfore forcing myself to ride the curb

Too afraid of getting sued for touching an "injured" person the wrong way.

That sounded painful.....
Glad you made it though those crashes as well as you did.
On a side note-
I am happy to report NO major falls or crashes in all of 2009.
NO major bike failures. 4 flat tires for the whole year.
I may be a general fuck-up in life, but I feel great about this last year on the bike. I avoided the drunk, single speed, brakeless 15 year olds, held my line, and had a properly maintained bike.
Best of luck to everyone in 2010, and if you love your mother, wear a helmet.

knocked my front tooth out. the whole damn thing. on the ride with no name. on my birthday. unfortunately, my friends are all too nice to take a picture to commemorate the moment. fortunately, they put the whole thing back in my mouth the next day and now you can't even tell which tooth it was. best birthday ever.

I had a few close calls, but I didn't crash at all last year. Now I'm going to go knock on every piece of wood I can find.

56.5 miles an hour coming down Mountian gate road (off of Sepulveda pass).
I was training for a time trial they had going from the bottom to the top. I knew how fast I could make it up it, so I thought I'd see how fast I could go down it, LOL. I forgot is was only 1 mile long and had to ditch it into the median, to avoid being a hood ornament on some car coming down Seoulveda. So much for the Specialized Allez i was riding. I wish I still had the computer that displayed my top speed.

Afraid of being sued eh, sounds like quite a few doctors cheated their way threw 15 years of schooling, pretty sad!

A Los Angelopes ride maybe, we had just left Bergemont station and were heading to the park on 20th and Pico in SM. I was going pretty fast on my tall bike, I attempted to go through a gate into the park without realizing there was a chain going across it. Tall bike hit right above the front wheel and I did a front flip off, it was quite painful but everyone else seemed to think it was hilarious.

anyone have any pics from that helmetless debacle at 48mph on lower topanga cyn??? The one where I was the ambulance to haul away the damaged bikes and riders?!?
my worst crash was when I took off my right ass cheek flying off the back of my mtb on an unexpected whoopie doo in the dark on some particulary sharp gravel
way worse than any of my episodes that required sticthes or plaster

i spilled my broken urb on the carpet...after i broke it up...so when i tried to pick it up, the little that was left it had lint all over.worst spill of 2009 for me.

Had 2 different ones, and they were almost exactly 3 months apart, and quite similar as well. They were both endo's, one happened whilst trying to avoid a car that pulled out in front of me, and the other one happened when my backpack got caught up in my front wheel.
Souvenirs from the accidents:
22 total stitches,(11 from each incident) over my right eye
Road rash just below the hairline on the right side of my forehead
Road rash on my left forearm
Road rash on my right shoulder
Surprisingly though, no major skull fractures or concussions from either accident! I came very close to having major problems with the first incident, though. The doctor told me that if the impact on my head had been more frontal, I could have been in a very bad way. But yeah, like John said, we need to invest in helmets...

I did not crash or fall from my bike ONCE in 2009!
I cycled 7,350 miles.
Last year (08), I crashed 3 times in December.

comming home from dropping my ex off at the bus stop 1 block away from my house. sprained my ankle in 2 places. doc. said it was an upper and lower combined. i didnt even fall. i kinda just laid down with the bike.
then dec 31 2009 going too fast into the 7 11 to buy beer when it was 5 mins past 2 already. dude still sold it to us. lol i was riding too fast and didnt put my left foot into the cage in time and slid out turning left up into the handicap ramp. almost hit the glass.

Staying on point, I crashed and rolled back in February after hitting some soft sand blown into the parking lot by a 40mph blast.
Fucked up my right shoulder a tad and couldn't lift anything properly for a few weeks, hurt like a biotch.

My worst spill of 2009 was most definitely when my bird's cage fell off the top of my bookshelf. seeds

i was in missouri or iowa or something like that. two pace lines of four people each riding next to each other. im three back in the left line. the girl in front of me crosses wheels with the guy in front of her and she lays down. my front wheel slams in to her gut and i flip over her and her bike with my bike and land on my side. the guy behind me rolls up pretty quick and hits my chainring with his front wheel and pops his tube.
no one was hurt, we all road away, but there was traffic and it was a firm reminder of how that shit can happen at any time. you've got to do everything to prevent those accidents.

I really don't remember if I had any bad accidents... Does anyone else? I got a black eye a couple of times, but I'm pretty sure that was 08. Did anything interesting happen 09 anyway??
I did witness some pretty gnarly crashes though. I always seem to be behind them and luckily avoid them.
