I used to have In A Major Way on magnetic audio tape. All the new E-40 stuff is not my cup of tea tho... I'm more of a People Under the Stairs / Lyrics Born type of guy.
my ghetto blaster got shaken to shit. I'm using a tape adapter, which works just fine, but the little wheels stopped turning. if you do bring a ghetto blaster, just make sure you either carry it or pad the bottom so that you dont break it.
For those that don't have a boombox or stereo with built in FM tuner, but do have some sort of speakers or soundsystem, for $30-40 you can get an mp3 player with FM tuner (Sandisk Sansa, etc).
We can do some interesting John Cage esque experiments depending on how many boomboxes we have. In the future we plan to scale up to multiple channels with coordinated broadcasts. The idea is to beat match the channels and have the crowd arrange themselves and choose a channel for a unique experience.
The start of the ride was memorable - everyone make a note that the Mar Vista Park sprinklers come on at 10.30pm.
The possibilities of this mobile Karaoke / Radio station thing are boundless. Imagine people in cars next to us tuning in to the same radio station while we ride next to them.
Start making signs for Crank Mob... "Tune in to 88.3"...
