Improvements on zombie make-up

So I was really intrigued by the Savini/Nicotero makeup jobs employed on the undead antagonists of the NOTLD 1990-remake.
According to the commentary, the crew stated they actually modeled the look of the zombies from actual corpses in a county morgue.
So, I look at all the zombie shots from the recent Salton Sea mission and notice everyone decided to don the Dawn of the Dead '78 version of makeup.
That's all fine and dandy if you're out to explore some fine, desert sea-scape.
But, if you're going to employ this on city denizens, then you got to do it right in order to strike fear deep into their hearts!!!
One tip I'll introduce right now is by giving the skin-tone that "thawed, raw-chicken color" that is usually noticeable with those that have been dead for a little while, but not exposed to harsh elements.
Another move to go for would be a way to make your cheekbone structure stand out further than normal.
This is obviously related to the decomposition following a short, few days after death.
But hey, let us turn this into a team-focused effort on "how to make our zombies so scary, you'll want to shoot them!!!"

In my past skirmishes with the legions of the undead, I have become well-versed in differentiating between the fakes, and the face-eaters!!!

Agreed Bstrider. The make up on NOTLD remake was excellent, saw its premier when it was released and met Savini and had him autograph the movie poster, best day in my life.

Not to mention Barbara went from "catatonic-dumbass" in the '68 version, to "Ass-whoopin' hottie" in the remake.
The zombie that still trips me out is that nearly, skeletal zombie that breaks through the front window barricade as they're trying to put it up.
Then there was Tom and his "not-so-bright" idea of shooting off the pump-padlock while a lit torch was in the truckbed!!!

I will keep this in mind when I do my REAL zombie shoot.
God I'm stupid.

Zombies in the desert scared the crap outta me Saturday night! Anyone else as squeamish about hanging out with the undead as I was?

"Theeere comming for you Baaabaraaaah"
That skeletal zombie that breaks in the front was awsome. Sooo dead skinny. They probably shipped that dude from the Calahari.
My personal fav however will always be Lucio Fulci's Zombie. I want that theme song played at my funeral wake. And I am serious.

That was another, ackward favorite of mine.
That whole chase-scene where he was hunting down Rhodes with that 1911, Rhodes screaming like a scalded dog and limping along the wall like he was scratching his back!!!
