Bianchi vs. Farrari

Rolling down Hollywood at Normandie I filtered past a bunch of cars on the right. Knowing that I had about 1/2 block before the road tightens I figured that I could probably get out of the way of most of them and the rest would have time to plan and go around as i merged.
When I saw the Ferrari (close to the front of the line) I thought to myself ... oh man, this guy is probably gonna be an asshole.
I jumped the light and got out ahead ... when it was time for me to merge I looked back and the Ferrari was still at the starting gate, waiting for the car in front to turn right after some peds crossed. With a blocker I merged easily. About 3/4 of a block from the light the Ferrari blazes past me at about 2 or 3 feet, going 60+ mph. A block later I see the Ferrari stuck behind an SUV turning left. The Ferrari was riding this guy's ass so tight when the SUV decided to make a unsignaled left he had now way to get around. I was right next to the Ferrari when the SUV finally made hos turn Then the Ferrari was off again speeding up past 60 then slowing down and getting stuck behind traffic that he rode so close to he couldn't maneuver around. One last sprint made sure he was first in line for the red light at Western.
Now it was my turn to step on it. I passed my regular turn off and pedaled my ass off to catch him at the light. I caught right up to him he was looking really cool with the hard top off and sunglasses fixed intently on the traffic light waiting for the signal so he could take off again.
I slid up next to him ...
"Your slower than a bike you know ..."
he gave me a perplexed look like Ernie from Sesame Street when he's frustrated (or maybe it was just the uni-brow).
"... Nice driving though."
I quickly turned right on western and left him waiting at the light.
It was stupid as fuck but I couldn't help laughing my ass off.

ha I thought the story was going to end with that crash pic. lol. still a good one but dude in the ferrari is bound to get laid with that thing.

I raced a Lamborghini one night on Melrose - I would have beaten him if the light had changed just a few seconds later.

Good story...like RB, I thought it was going to end with that picture backing things up...
Anyways, fuck the dude and his car...we can ALL get laid.

my farrari story doesn't end with quite so much polite interaction. i was doing my usual morning ride on mulholland. sliding by the traffic i merged in front of a farrari convertable driven by a "look at me" blonde. apparently, for a moment i wasn't going fast enough, and i caused blondie to slow to a mere 26mph. that was enough to elicit a blast from her horn and a dangerous drive around. of course, i knew she'd be stopped in a mile long line of traffic around beverly glen. and as i approached i accidentally cleaned her windshield with a mouth full of gateraide and wad of gum. i continued on my little ride. but i do still keep an eye on my rear mirror for that car.

Yeah, I spit a mouthful of water in the car window of some stupid ass T.O. highschool football player's Camaro after he faked like he was going to run me over and I caught him at the next light. I made sure to put a telephone pole between me and his car until he decided to take off. For the next few weeks I tried to stick to the dirt and other streets as much as possible.

Zooming passed cars in traffic is always a hoot. I like when people try and zig zag through traffic to get to the next red light. It's always good for a laugh. Since I'm an asshole, I like to take an entire lane and let these folk get a nice view of me backside as I navigate the streets and leave 'em sittin at the red lights.

A few weeks ago was my 1st time getting buzzed, and it was by an asshole in a Ferrari...WTF? And on the same night and same street, a BMW was revving its engine when he passed me and some others way too closely! It sucks that I screamed, because they probably thought it was hilarious, but it's really scary!! Anyhoo I think it's hilarious that they're paying top dollar to advertise their "smallness" Ferrari's are NOT for lovers!

When i ride, I get honked at all the time. Usually when there is no bike lane available on the road. I usually end up slowing down and looking back to see the driver pointing at the sidewalk....
Maybe we should start putting stickers on our backs that it isn't legal to ride on the sidewalks.

Thing is, it actually IS legal to ride on the sidewalks except in specific incorporated cities. West Hollywood is one of them.
The reason they honk is (in my opinion), 50% ignorance and 50% blatant disregard for the safety of you, themselves, and others on the road.
Being honked at is annoying. I shouldn't let it get to me, but there is something so frustrating about being harassed by motorists on a nearly daily basis. The only thing I can say is that until people in this city get used to seeing bikes, we will continue to have this problem.
We have to get it through their heads that the streets belong to us.

I should say that this particular road racer had no time for honking. He just blazed past me. I was just ammused how is aggro driving was getting him nowhere slowly.
On that same strip of road I had a Hummer come up behind me and honk. I offered up a 1 finger salute and motored on.
He eventually figured out the whole 2 lane thing and eventually passed angrily on the left.
