Just got off the metro station at vine and some guy tried to sell me a fixie for $80. Asked him a bunch of questions and its obviously not his bike. Bike was a shade of light green, about a 55cm frame black wheels, flat bar with front wheel brake. Cable lock tied to seatpost and a I love my bike bell on the right hand side of the bar.

Sounds pretty obvious it was stolen, no one who knows anything about bikes would be selling it that cheap. In which case the best thing probably would have been to call the cops on the person. Most cases like that are to get money quick for a drug purchase. More value in bikes are stolen every year than all the money from bank robberies per year combined, and it will keep being that way if we don't demand law enforcement to take bike thefts seriously and actively engage to protect our own interests.

i know how discouraged we get when the cops dont take us seriously, but when we Ridazz don't report stolen bikes and road rage incidents, it's sending a message to the cops:
"it's not that big a deal when a crackhead steals my bike. i don't mind."
you can bitch all you want, but unless you file a police report, that stolen bike never becomes a statistic. and if that stolen bike never becomes a statistic, the police are happy to keep ignoring bike thefts.
interesting fact:
the police department does not allocate officers based on murder rates; the number of police officers in a particular district are based on dollars lost from theft. that means that if someone steals a $20,000 car in brentwood, brentwood gets X more cops. If 20 bikes valued at $1000 get stolen in hollywood, they send the same number of cops.
fucked up, no?
well IT ADDS UP!
IF SOMEONE STEALS YOUR BIKE, YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF AND YOUR BROTHER AND SISTER RIDAZZ TO MAKE SURE A POLICE REPORT IS FILED.
shit, you may even get your bike back.

yo man thats fucked up.
what about the lower income areas that don't have pricey shit...
and generally speaking, people from those neighborhoods are the one that have to steal to compete in this high price world...so less police are sent to their area....so its a screwing spiral downwards....
FUCK THAT SHIT

yes, it is a spiral screw. plus, rich people have time to take off of work to report crimes, unlike most of us working folks. it's a lose-lose for the working man. that's why we need to raze beverly hills to the ground. that way, there will be nothing left to steal next quarter, and the police can be equitably distributed.

haha well i wouldn't go that far.
plus lapd and bhpd are two different entities.

You're right, that would be going too far. we should keep it local. BURN BRENTWOOD AND THE PALISADES!
heres another tidbit: the mini-municipalities such as BH and SaMo are too small to have their police academies, so instead they just recruit LAPD officers who were trained on our LAPD tax dollars, and give them a raise for screwing LAPD for the training dollars.
