Again... car came out of no where... i hate the valley very wreck less drivers which sucks. thrashed my whole back rim which sucks real bad. frame is fine but the rim isn't happened on lankershim

How are you? Any physical issues? If there is any possibility, get checked out. Don't be Mr./Ms. Tough Guy here.
Was it a hit+run or did you get driver/plate info?

well thing is that he stayed and just kept on repeating himself

around 100 dollars and he said oh thats pricey
im like yeah my bike is around 600-700 bucks and he said
oh bro you know where i can get a rim like that im like
at metropolis and he said ohh alright and said he is sorry and
repeated himself again and drove off.. said he worked for the lapd
and to keep it between him and i which was so stupid because he
didnt provide any info... i was like what wth but luckily these guys
stayed there and gave me his plate number and yeah i reported it
as for injuries my ankle is messed up what im worried about is
that i just sprained it 2 months ago so hopefully nothing goes wrong with it
and i have a road rash as well

that sounds like a hit and run to me. you should report it immediately.

I think we need an article explaining to people what to do in the event of a collision. this is ridiculous. post the plate number and description of the driver for starters. contact Thomas Forsyth or Ross Hirsch and lawyer up.
Get the process started TODAY. when did this happen?

and when I say "ridiculous" I am referring to the guy in the car taking off on you without leaving his info. this is basically a hit and run. as long as you got the plates you have a chance.

good work! If you have car insurance some insurance companies will handle a claim for you.

Things you should thinking about and doing immediately::
1. Write down everything you recall--right now.
2. Do not ride the bike (sorry about that). Take crap loads of pictures of damage.
3. Get medical treatment if you have any hint of physical injury. This may take a day or two to show up, but don't ignore it.
4. Call LAPD, then go in and make a report. Demand they make a report. Worth repeating: Demand they make a report. Tell them ALL the damage you sustained.
5. Get the report # (sometimes called an Incident # or DR #), officer badge and telephone number for future follow up.
6. Call back LAPD--hound them if you have to--this shows you're not going away and want some freakin justice.
This list is by no means all you should be doing, and it will obviously depend on level of severity of the injuries/damages. Call me if you want to go over any of this: two one three.4 zero 7 . ninety three hundred.
That's bullshit that this driver said he was a cop--yet still failed to provide any info. Agreed that's a hit+run, and LAPD *should* classify it as such. In my hit+run, the dude stopped and gave false info, yet LAPD still classified it as a hit+run. (Problem was that they did zero after that--and refused to give me any information--so I was left with no avenues to pursue. I certainly learned a lot in the process, but I woulda rather have had by bike and injuries properly tended to and/or compensated.)
Totally agree with RB on a simple article on what to do when this happens. I carry a sheet of paper reminding me of what info I need--cause when you go down, you may be in a wacky state of "everything's cool," or "I'm not hurt" because of a weird pride/macho/macha(?) thing, but that's so not what you should be thinking.
My cheat sheet is simple, and some of you probably have it because I pass it out to anyone I talk with about car-on-bike incidents on rides. Relevant CVC Codes re bikes on one side, lines on the other for plate, drivers lic., witness info, date, time, etc....
And, hey, thanks for putting this out there. The more awareness of the frequency with which this happens, the more things may start to change.
