daily average caloric consumption

just wondering, what everybody's daily average of calories consumed looks like versus how much you bike?
its 10:42 AM an i'm up to to 1470 for the day... i havent even hit lunch yet but im always hungry

eat throughout the day! eat something between breakfast and lunch...you should probably be eating 5-6 meals a day and spread out the calories.
i wish i could eat that much junu!

according to what i'm logging on the daily plate through the livestrong site...
yesterday i consumed
1389
and burned
2154 from riding 2.5 hours (included a climb up mandeville)
i've put myself on a diet...and i weighed a pound less today!!! woo hoo

I once lost 13 lb in a day, got grossed out, and somehow regained my 13 lb a few hours later. My bowels have never felt so relieved.

may i suggest increasing your calorit intake, and reducing the amount of calories from fat. truth is, as an athlete, deficiency is not a choice, and especially when you are training, it does a complete 180 on that.
just be wise about the food choices you make. your both does not have enough to burn fat if you have a deficit because the thermogenesis still requires extra energy which it draws from calories
ultimately if you keep eating less, your metabolism will slow down, and you wont actually burn the calories you thought you burned. what you calculated via formula as 2400 may be 1900 just because your body is learning to adapt to a deficit
btw no biking today and still 4000 calories. im going to pay for it soon. i really tried eating less. i really did.

i know pros when it comes to the grand tour times turn up their BMR to about 3500-4000 so they have to eat that much just to keep their bodies running smoothly.

starving oneself to lose weight is the worst possible way to do it. think of the trillions of cells in there going oh fuck we're out of food. better slow down consumption and store this scarce supply of food in fat cells... also, get ready to convert that energy consuming muscle into fat cells, we dont know how long this starvation will last....

or excercise more...
you need some caloric deficit but not so much that your body starts thinking it's starving.
If you're exercising enough you can eat WHATEVER you want and you will still lose.
I want to ride more...

thx. good info.
and that was only yesterday. i should be riding more but i haven't gotten as many miles as i'd like. i'm trying to space out small snacks and i'm def not hungry.
we're doing a century this weekend wooo..question is how should i prepare, by eating, before then?

If you nom oatmeal, you should try steel cut oats. You can get it at TJ's. Take a bit longer to cook, but it's so much tastier than crushed oats.

I just had oatmeal, too. with strawberries, Craisins, and brown shuga. mmmmmm.
Broccoli is a power food. pretty much all vegetables...yams are good for you...carrots..orange stuff.
rice with olive oil...brown rice and NOT instant rice. bomb diggity.
carb-loading is a myth. you want a balanced diet. portion control.

the whole carbo load the night before is a myth. After your body digests it, if it has no immediate use for it, it will store itself into fat for later use. night before, keep it lean meats, high fiber veggies (to get the waste out of your system the night before) and stayyy away from artificial sweeteners.
In the body, carbohydrate is metabolized mainly into glucose, a major source of immediate energy, which is delivered to body cells. Any extra carbohydrate is converted to glycogen (a source of glucose and reserve energy stored in the liver and muscle tissues of humans and animals), or fatty acids, which are later stored as body fat. Therefore, although fat calories are most easily converted to fat in the body, calories from carbohydrate, as well as from protein, will also be transformed into body fat if these calories are not expended.
doesnt mean do the whole low-carb thing the night before, of course you need carbs! because you need insulin to help the protein synthesis to start rebuilding muscles and insulin production requires glucose from your blood to your pancreas.
reserve most of your carbs the morning of the long ride, as your body will find a much more efficient use for it than being stored as glycogen. continue consuming carbs throughout the ride once every 45-55 minutes.
after the ride, make sure you have a cool down period, and stuff your face in foods that rank high in glycemic index, white bread is my favorite. and then proceed to stuff down again on high quality proteins to promote recovery.
although everybody is different, my results in the past two years following this routine has led to a 20% drop in body fat regulated blood pressure, and my BMR is at least 2500+ meaning i can eat 2500 calories just sitting around a couch all day (not for long).
