 Right now things seem to be going the other direction, so it is a mountainous climb even to stop the momentum against authority accountability. A lot of people will have to put a lot on the line to get this kind of law changed. I mean, you know who makes the laws, right?

 Well, I think CA is one of the states where you are still allowed to record officers in public places.

But no, we don't make laws. We vote for politicians who ultimately push whatever laws they want, and we hope we are voting for someone who will be honest with their policies.

Do you really think "we" or anyone voted for a law that made it illegal to hold police officers accountable for their actions in the public sphere? I don't think anyone would vote for that.

 The same supreme court who upheld cops entering without a warrant because they heard rustling sounds? The same supreme court who upheld that corporations are people too?

But yeah, fucked up.

BUT! A lot of the "anti-recording" laws are based on wiretapping laws and thus the audio portion of the recording. So video without audio is way safer. I wonder if there is an app for that.
