Stolen Bicycle database

I've noticed increasing posts about stolen bicycles and I'm getting lots of people coming in to my shop or calling asking if I've see such and such bike, it was stolen etc.
I'm not super web savy, I can build a simple website so this idea is beyond my skill level.
Perhaps a stolen bicycle database?
Have it organized by state and city, people can put descriptions and pics of their bikes on there, it may help.
Anyone willing to take this bull by the horns?

This seems like a good idea, although I'm not sure how truly effective it would be. I know the Austin Midnight Ridazz and Zoobombers both have dedicated space for such a database on their sites, though.

This might be a good thing to build relations with local law enforcement. If the stolen bicycle info is a public record, it should be available to the public, and it would make cyclists' AND police officers' lives easier if we all knew which bikes to keep an eye out for.

It would be some bit of wrok to set up, but if we could then I'd say it could be a great resource. The cops, bicycle theft is a low echilon crime so it's really up to us.

it really is past due.
It wou;d be a good job for some enterprising computer students interested in doing a community project.

ya man i've been talking about the same thing
like with a picture and all descriptions of the bike
and definately key words
so if u think you saw a stolen bike just type in the words like red, fixie, puegot and ect
