I'm making my first ride...
Any suggestions that aren't on the "How to start your own ride" section?
Tips?
Advice?
Streets to avoid?

Do what you want..
Many will want one or the other..long..short..hills..no hills..
You wont be able to please everyone.do it for the love.
We are just looking for something different.

Avoid Alameda in downtown LA.
Try to favor right turns over left turns.
Get help from friends, if possible.

Right turns are always better than left turns.
Watch freeway on ramps/offramps. Some don't require cars to stop
Stops every 5 miles seem to work well
Scout your route well in advance to make sure there are no street closures and street conditions are okay for a large group.
When scouting your route, ask for some company. A lot of us are willing to go on a ride and keep you company.

1st off plan what type of ride it will be, fast, slow, freak.
Plan 5 mi stops for slow rides and be mindful of the lady ridazz, and make sure the stop is close to or with restrooms.

LOL. Yeah I may have worded it wrong, but I do mean stops with bathrooms for women.

fuck it, Liz can pee behind the bushes like the rest of us. i've even heard rumor she may even be able to do it standing. *both brows raised with eyes wide open*

I like it when things go too far, but golden showers, well...
I try to avoid those movies on the porn sites.
Anyway, yeah at the Alphabet ride I (a
laaaaady) didn't mind squatting far away in the sand, but bathroom stops will be searched for, seeing as there isn't always sand and big concrete wall..things with graffiti
I'd also like to comment on my experience with peeing while standing, but that would go
TOO far.
Anyway- thank you MUCH for the advice. The scouting company sounds really really good. A scouting ride! Anyone up for it? It could be a small 5 person thing or if no one cares, it could be a small 2 person thing.

My vague ride ideas are to be from Olvera St. in Downtown to the Hollywood cemetery... Olvera St. may be removed, Echo Park may be added, and/or, I don't know, this, that, vague, that way over there.
A route incorporating the tips will be scouted, and we'll see which ideas work and which ones don't...
Not so much westside though, (although the cemetery is on Santa Monica Blvd, which obviously leads west)

Here's an idea. Why don't you go to Google Maps or Gmaps Pedometer and draw out a route, then post a link to it here so people can give you feedback. (or better still embed the map if you wanna get fancy)
