When major stocks go lower, that's the time to BUY MORE, because you're getting them at a discount. Other people's fear works in your favor.
Whether you're morally OK with owning oil company stocks is an entirely different question.
If not you might want to look up "socially responsible investing", as there are some decent funds available.

I'd rather drive for WalMart, the stock options come with the job as one of the added bonuses of running D/C to regional store dedicated.
The Internationals in their house-fleet are quite awesome too.

What's your alternative Dedicated818?
Most of the stuff that makes modern life enjoyable / feasible is provided by corporations.
Sure, individual craftsmanship is awesome, but most of us don't have $2-5k to buy a handbuilt bike, and even most of those handmade bikes are made out of tubes that come from enormous steel companies, and use components from the Shimano/Campagnolo/SRAM corporations.
I suppose the worker co-op movements that have been taking off in South America have some potential, but they're basically employee-owned corporations, so I'm not sure there's a big difference.
If there are reasonable alternatives, please share your knowledge.
