Japan is amazing
Bike everywhere and crime is really low.
a $6 lock is more than enough for most bikes.
I really fell in love with Osaka.
Bars stay open deep into the am. and riding around just before the sun comes up is simply amazing.

Cambodia!
I lived in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, for 15 months.
Go to Kep and hang out at the seaside. It's beautiful and serene and a little funky, an expat haven from the madness of Phnom Penh. Take a trip up Bokor Mountain (also in Kep), if you can spare the time. There's a bunch of abandoned buildings — one of them's a casino — built in the 1950s and 1960s. They're amazing examples of mid-century modern architecture, most of them designed by Vann Molyvann, in a truly surreal state of decay. Vann Molyvann also designed a lot of civic buildings and monuments in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh, and he was the planner for the city of Sihanoukville, back in the 50s.
If you go to Sihanoukville, go to Starfish Cafe and tell them Katie sent you. It'll help to tell them I'm D's sister. Then, go upstairs and check in on the bar I used to run up there. I hope it's still open!

I spent 21 days in Chiang Mai, Thailand 2 years ago...amazing. If I didn't have kids I'd move there. Have fun! p.s....didn't get vaccinations.

Cool, I already planned on going to Sihanoukville, as my uncle told me it was a chill little beach town that wasn't too touristy. So far planning on spending a week with my homie in Tokyo, 4 days in Khao San Road in Bangkok, 2 days in Chaing Mai, then maybe 5 days in Cambodia, and the rest in Vietnam. I have friends who have been to everywhere but Vietnam....anyone?
PS Ill be sure to hit up that bar :)

Please go here http://www.elephantnaturepark.org/office.htm don't want to get on a soap box...but the trip there will explain it all. Never go to a "elephant riding" place.
