I'm sort of hoping but not hoping its a pre-quake to a bigger quake.
Yea I felt it for a second or two, but it was strong.

It was a friendly reminder. When the big one hits, the gas stations won't work and everyone will have to walk or (gulp) ride a bike to get around for a few days.
It was a "microearthquake" according to Caltech. One kilometer from Echo Park.
skd04.7.09 - 11:32 pm

Yup I felt it shook my apt. twice

Caltech is reporting there were actually two earthquakes. One at 7:12pm in Silver Lake, a magnitude 2.0. Then another at 10:07 near Echo Park, magnitude 2.5.
Could this be the fore shock to a bigger Silver Lake/Echo Park event?
Who the hell knows. Sleep with your shoes on tonight.

In regards to gas-pumps being down to electrical shortages, people could still pump it manually from the storage tanks, but good luck not getting shot by nearby PD, or ArNG units hovering around.
So, if anything, it would probably be good to arm and equip ourselves to outlast the riff-raff that would be running rampant through the streets.
As far as the desert goes, 95% chance the 15 going through the Cajon Pass would be shot-to-shit.

Mikey Wally and I were sitting on the couch with our laptops and felt it. One of my cats was laying on the chair next to me and he didn't move a muscle. Mikey and I felt it, looked at each other, said earthquake and then went back to what we were doing. It was quite noticeable for a 2.5.
