This is interesting, but it's actually quite controversial in Denmark as part of a national debate about helmets. For instance, the popular blog Copenhagenize attacks it as propaganda. The people who made the video are trying to promote helmet use in a nation of cyclists where less than 5% of cyclists wear helmets.
Dunno about the state of bike related accidents in Denmark, but here with the lack of not only solid bike infrastructure, but really a mentality that respects the bicycle as vehicle that has rights of shared space;
riding in the US generally and LA specifically I believe is more dangerous. If all I really had to worry about was personal error or fits of nature/acts of God, (whatever you believe) I wouldn't be so bent about a helmet.
I had a cop talk to me at a red light while going down Valley to DTLA. I was pulling the MR recycling trailer and he thought it was really neat. He said he wished there we MORE bikes on the road, and that they all had bright lights like mine.
He seemed genuinely cool towards me, and I really liked that he just said his nice words and moved along.
