RideTime Cycling is for Male/Female riders who want to do some serious 25 to 60 mile training rides.
This ride is ideal for anyone who wants to train for the Dark Century, A first time Century or just general riding.
These rides are intended for intermediate riders in the 12 -19 MPH range.
Eventually I will add an advanced 20mph plus group.
The goal is consistency. Meet at the same place, at the same time, every Saturday Rain or shine and End at the same place.
Looking forward to seeing many familiar riders as well as any new riders who wish to join the group

eh eff it, i guess ridetime is something you try.
caturday warrior is something you ARE.
so all you n00bs, goto ridetime, learn to ride, then come to caturday. keep being afraid. i like that.

lol its fucked up that there are so many rides on the 28th, that it will not show up on the calendar until the day of!
CATURDAY WARRIORS
STILL #1 on 2.28 and every saturday.

hey i know you really want to have your own ride, but why not just hook up with ours? We really do want to get a bigger crowd and you might just be our ticket there. We have a huge spread in cycling ability so really its open to anyone with a roadbike. Theres no use in having 2 morning rides beginning at the exact same time on a saturday with the same purpose

wayne! glad to see you're putting together a ride. can't make it to your ride at the moment, but am totally looking forward to the next dark century!

I'd do this if I wasn't so far away.
As far as training to become a kickass roadie, I'd feel much more comfortable going into it with y'all.

yeah, junes i love you but the "my ride is better than your ride" attitude is really starting to suck
wayne is a great guy and was really helpful when i was dying on the last dark century. i think what he's doing is awesome. maybe he never said he's trying to take your riders. i doubt he even comes here much or knows anything about caturday.
just play nice plllleeeeaaase!
at this point caturday sounds like a wolfpack ride that i will never be ready for. sounds really intimidating the way you talk about it.

i through in a random "maybe" up there ... i wish this forum had editing options

haha nobody here can tough my ego, let alone hurt it.
my only problem is people getting confused about what ride is what. 9/10 caturday warriors continue to become regulars so i could care less and would much rather work with regulars because everyone is progressing really well so far.
i just wish wayne would've tried one of our rides, and then create another ride that may be appealing more to others. honestly, if i've never been to either, i wouldn't know which one to end up at? we have a slower group that leaves earlier, and we have a faster group, and then we have our A team, and wylie was right, we accomodate to all levels of riders (except for 5 star rating rides)
basically, according to the ride posting, both rides can expect similar styles *although my postings tend to test your psychological strength (everybody has always finished a caturday)* so it seems like an attempt to draw away from our crowd. they start 5 miles from each other, practically the same time, it almost feels like the work of tortuga_veloce except its serious.
just know that caturdays are here.and the nature of your ride is very similar to ours.
since there is no cooperation, there can only be competition.
and do not expect for caturday warriors to back down.
besides isn't MR just one big popularity contest anyways?

o btw, when is the next dark century? we're gonna get a headstart and run a double century and meet up with you guys half way.
_iJunes02.27.09 - 8:42 pm

thats actually a good idea we should do a double century the night of the dark century

I'm still tinkering with the idea of at least riding down from Hesperia to the Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink station.
bentstrider02.27.09 - 9:16 pm

wayne, for the record i think it's awesome that you are doing a ride. i think there is a big population on MR that would benefit from your ride, especially given how you work with riders of different skill sets.
nancine02.27.09 - 9:37 pm
reply
Whats up everyone....for the Record. The Ridetime cycling group is not about who can ride 60 miles the fastest. Ijunes you act like there are only 20 bikers in the L.A. area. You got your thing going and it's all good but the great thing about having choices is just that.
Plus i'm spreading some love to the Ridazz who wanna train for a century or just wanna come out ride. It's all good.

the more rides the better. Do diferent ones different weeks. This is all pretty exciting.
But why Starbucks? There are a host of locally-owned coffee shops in downtown that deserve our support more than Starbucks.

I'd like to quickly say thanks to Everyone who emailed me or replied here saying good luck. That's support and support is always good.
Okay! I've scouted the Saturday ride for March and it's 25 miles of pure goodness. I'd like 2 address 2 things.
1. I don't get into the whole "I hate corporations" battle. I can also think of 100 other coffee shops or tea spots to patronize as well. The location I chose is not about who I like or hate it's about the rides start and finish point. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not
forcing anyone to purchase anything from starbucks.
2. I put this ride together for those riders who can appreciate the following:
this groupride is not about who can finish first
this groupride is not about who can climb the best
this groupride is not about who can ride the farthest
this groupride is not about who can talk the most trash
this groupride is not about who has the best bike
this groupride is not about who has the most friends
this groupride is about riding smart, safe, with respect for the road and others on it, and most importantly it's about preparation.
Pssssssttttttt!!! I have the Dark Century date but I can't tellllll. Let the
training begin.
