 Hey, it's even easier now! Not the game, but trying it out - Downtown games are thursday nights and games in NoHo go off Friday, Saturday and Sunday for hours...come by when you can! We haz mallets for use.

 My main concern is damage to my bike. The only bike I would ever dream of using in polo is also my main source of transportation...is major damage inevitable, or will I be able to avoid it for the most part?

 you can surely avoid damage - polo's a tough game, but it's really not so brutal as people perceive...unless you want it to be. Just don't rush another player or rush into a wall and your bike should come out unscathed.
