if you have painted over 15 bikes then why do you need money to buy white cr bolts? cant you just paint it yourself?

I am with RBI, i would say go to Olympic. I have done about 50 frames and forks with them in the last 2 years and have never had a problem, plus they offer a large amount of crazy colors. Fuck painting they can do just as much with powdercoating now as paint so why not.

for a fork it can be anywhere from 20 bucks to 100 for the crazy colors and designs. Tell them that jeff from roland sands design sent you and they will give you a good deal

Just find a color your like and spray paint it yourself. If you like glossy brown or glossy green I can give you a free can. Otherwise Home Depot, OSH, Do It Center, etc are the places to look

can of montana (they have some nice sparkly ones in the platinum edition for like 8 bucks, a tall can) at 33third... and a clear coat from walmart or something, just sand it down good and clean it up. use even coats and you should be fine if youre not looking for something too fancy.

yeah Im not looking for something too fancy. Plain & simple white thats all. Im leaning towards doing it on my own I just want to pimp out my bike before the marathon :)
Avis_One05.20.09 - 10:20 am

if you do this, just prepare yourself for the fact that chips, dings and scratches will be entirely unavoidable.
I understand you're just trying to pimp it out for the bike tour, but it's going to end up looking shitty (I know from experience, I have painted my own frames.) So unless you don't mind scratches (I didn't, it was a beater bike), or don't mind sanding it down and repainting it every once in a while, you're better off powdercoating...that shit lasts and it takes a LOT to scratch it.

Where can I get heroin? I think that for now my self painting will do. I dont have a ride to go all the way to Santa Ana at the moment.

yes it is true, and no, you won't prove me wrong.
Avis_One, if you're just doing the fork, than you probably won't have much trouble. but I believe Orange 20 sends parts out to olympic if you ever decide to powdercoat.

Thanks Im thinking of doing on my own but Ill go check out orange 20 tomorrow im trying to do it before the bike tour on monday
Avis_One05.20.09 - 10:48 am

I don't think you'll have the time to powdercoat by monday. usually takes at least a week.
for just the fork, you'd probably be better off just spray painting it. When I first posted, I thought you were talking the entire frame, but if I was just painting the fork, I would spray it, too.

Serious question. If you have a powdercoated frame and it gets nicked, will touchup paint or nail polish have a problem bonding with the coat (which is plastic)?

Krylon Appliance Epoxy is awesome stuff!, but iIt only comes in Black and White.
I did my GF's bike in white, and everyone asks if it is powdercoat? Nice smooth hard glossy finish. 3 coats and your done!.
SEARS sells it for like $5 a can (get 3 cans).
The BEST rattle can paint I have ever used!

Yes 3 cans of Krylon Appliance Epoxy one for each coat. you can do one coat but it will chip easier.
I did 3 coats on her bike and looks great, and have dropped twice since then without a scratch!
Spend the xtra $10, you'll be glad you did.

BTW you will want extra for touch ups down the road, as different brands of paint can vary in shade a bit.
The white looks great but you cant go wrong with black either. Depends on what other colors you want to add.
2zRescue05.23.09 - 8:46 am
reply
well if u do it black it will only need a lil paint..
the white is a lil trickier to get on there..but
white will look better...
