I feel lucky

I missed the last train home from Santa Barbara. I'm about to ride back to LA carrying 15 lbs in my messenger bag.
The reason I missed the train is that I stopped to buy a sandwich, and after paying, I dropped my debit card through a crack at the edge of the counter and spent 5 minutes with the shop owner fishing it out. He said "you could try to drop a card through that crack a hundred times and never make it." And I said "well, now I feel lucky!" And I do.
Sometimes it's good to to extraordinary things just to remind yourself that you can. Other times, it's good to just say "feckit, why not?" I haven't quite figured out yet what kind of time
this one is. My Centurion is about to live up to its name. Wish us good moonlight.

its nice to see the positive things from a negative situation.
only one problem, any time spent writing things on MR is time not spent riding your bike so HTFU its 100 miles to go!!!!

100 miles from there to the LA Basin???!!!!??
I'm guessing that particular route-age is more bike-friendly in most places.
The Pass on the other hand is a literal, gauntlet.

Success! I'm beginning to think that I should miss trains more often. Point Mugu by the full moon was fucking surreal.
Distance: 107.5 miles
Travel time: 10 hours, 45 minutes
Maximum bag weight: 23 lbs
Fluids consumed: 2 gallons
Calories consumed: 3500
Free donuts consumed: 2
Strangers giving me funny looks: 7
Strangers wishing me good luck: 6
Broken spokes at start of ride: 2
Broken spokes at end of ride: 3
When I'm going to get that fixed: real soon now, honest.
Thanks, all, for the well-wishes.
