I assume there has already been one of these threads, but if there hasn't I know Alex Thompson was talking about how there should be a running thread for ideas that would be conducive to creativity at assorted MR rides.
So, on that note:
Running of the bulls ride/crank mob supplement
dress up as bulls or matadors, could stop and have matadors/bulls do bullfights complete with red cloths and Oles!
naturally, the bulls ride a bike
and if we're going for skill, the matadors could trackstand

Whatever happened to that "urban exploration" ride that a few have mentioned?
I would kill to get onto that one.
Find a few, large abandoned buildings, mansions and tour them, take pictures and whatnot.

Discussion, discussion, blah blah blah. Just do it. Don't forget, themes are easy. Creating an interesting RIDE, that will entertain a mass of people on bikes, that's the challenge.
But, it might not sound like it, but I rather have this full of shitty ideas, naysayers and ride spam, than not.
So if you have an idea, just do it. post it. make it happen. and if you need to, you'll ask for help. If it's a good idea, people will show up. If it's a stupid idea, maybe just your friends show up. But it doesn't matter, you'll have a ride, and it just might be the best ride you've ever done.
The more rides the merrier. It keeps the bigger rides manageable (although I do miss the 1200+ rides from 2 years ago) and diversifies the rides, which I also miss.
On that note, you folks missed out on Barchops. It ruled, it was a lot of fun(tm). It was what the Last Saturday Midnight Ridazz was, when it was just Cruz with Us, when it was a bar crawl. Before the speedster kids came and hijacked it, and tried to turn it into a hustle(tm), complaining that we don't ride long enough, and there aren't enough stops... stupid. SpeedyBrian, aka SpaceyBrian, thanks for bring back our Cruz. I'm looking forward to S&S's weekday niche ride too.
There were only 30 of us. the first stop, a strip club. Classic.

That's not niche-y enough. Let's have a "late nineties High Llamas / Stereolab with lots of bloopy analog synthesizers and lush string and horn arrangements by Sean O'Hagan" ride. I'd go to that one.

bumped an old but relevant thread.
I agree with Dak that it's more valuable for people to execute mediocre ideas, and improvise, than it is to have excellent ideas. In the Bikerowave Volunteer forums people endlessly chuck around brilliant ideas, but not many seem to do anything with them.

Nobody wants to do, they just want go to it and ride. That's a shame. However, somebody eventually turns up. I just like it if it's somebody NEW. but whatever..
It really is fun making a ride happen. I don't foresee myself doing anymore, but It was sure a fun experience.

PC, I think your Sean O'hagen idea sucks. No one wants to listen to moog and analog loops, ala Quickspace and th' faith healers, on a bicycle ride. We(tm) want to hear jams that everyone is familiar with, and then we can all dance along to at the stops. Oh...
If you were to make a playlist with said music, i might be willing to set up the soundsystem on one of my bikes, and blast it.
I saw Stereolab open up for Unrest at the Whiskey a long time ago. I have the tshirt for it still, it reads: STEREOLAB: Electronic Pop Music.
