when you're at a ride, try meeting someone new. you might have come with a group of friends, but that doesn't mean you need to stay with them the whole time.
make new friends, see what the community is about and learn something new!
so you're socially awkward? uncomfortable around strangers?
riding makes it easier. instead of having to walk up to someone, you can just ride up next to them and say "nice bike." if they're smiling, they're probably open to talking to you.
one more tip: if you want people to be interested in you, take an interest in them. works almost every time.
it's easy.
try it.
you'll have more fun.

you know what, I don't agree with this statement. it's much harder to show up to a group and try to introduce yourself then it is for the members of the established group to reach out to newcomers.
I make it a point to introduce myself to everybody that comes to the Hustle ride and make them feel included it's much better than expecting someone to be able to get over the intimidation and introduce themselves to you.

I agree with Roadblocks approach.
I do the same thing at Ktown. I think it's one of the main reasons why people show up again. Because no matter how big the ride is, they feel accepted by having one of the leaders introduce themselves and show some interest in them.

yes, both of you new testment named mu^funker do a job job of that.
another good strategy that i have found is to invite those clicks of ridas that show up 2-4,5 deep that linger on the outskirts to physically come over and kick it with the "core" huddle.
while it may seem counterintuitive, i have also found that if you throw a first time rider in a trash can and roll it around a bit they feel like they are really a part of the team after that - like a kindof initiation dazed and confused style
