I'm in court today hoping to get my bicycle license ticket dismissed.... I find out that the judge is one of those non elected temporary judges.... after hearing Iain's case going sour under one of these judges, I figure I would excercise my right to be heard by a real judge.... wonder if that was a good move or not....

Just don't use the phrase "real judge" in court, as some of them are pretty thin-skinned.
Maybe explain that the city has put a moratorium on bicycle licenses, and if he/she can't throw out the ticket immediately, you'd like the case to be heard by a regular judge.

They have a sign posted telling you that you have the right to get an elected / appointed judge... they also pass around a clipboard that you sign your authorization to be heard by the temp judge. I asked to be seen by regular judge which I got.... I'm here now waiting to be heard....
Fingers crossed.
Just got called.
Ha awesome, he dismissed the ticket. I still have to see the cashier though.... worried....

PS. I saw Eddieboy go up before me. He didn't see me. Haha I didn't want to say hi cause I was afraid I would be guilty by association!

That was called harrassment by LAPD is what it was. Last year on a ride the cops football tackled a rida off his bike for allegedy running a red - I didn't see the run red but seeing a guy get tackled off his bike was pretty effin disturbing. So a bunch of us remained on the scene to witness everything.... when the officer told us to leave I said that we had the right to stay where we were, on the sidewalk waiting for our friend to be processed. He then said "oh yeah? Lets see your bike" I had everything legal, lights front and back EXCEPT no bicycle license which was his "aha!" moment.... gave me and a bunch of other ridazz there tickets.....
Turns out the city is too god damned broke to handle a bike license program cause we went to the station and organized license rides.... the cops were overwhelmed so much that they eventually dropped the program officially as of this last tuesday.
