NEED 44cm Frame
Thread started by

Anyone have a 44cm frame they'd like to sell to me?
My bike has been out of commission and while I have been waiting on parts from Nashbar, I have grown extremely impatient.
All the shops I've called said they'd have to order a frame for me.
Being short has it's disadvantages.

I'm 5'1. I fit Sheli's bike pretty well, but I believe it too is 44cm.

Coe coe darling!
We're like the same height, and on some bikes I even fit over a 50cm (like Candy Cane's). Definitely look for stand over height! 42-48 should be good. It's hard to find small frames, but check out Junky Rusty Bikes.

You're right my darling Nikki:D
It does depend on the length of your legs as well as your upper half.
Do you have a shorter torso /long legs or long torso/short legs??
I would say try a 45? it might fix a little more snug..
You're ONLY 5'1??
I'm 5 on the dot!!........but I've always felt I was taller... your tiny:D

44cm ftw.
I feel your pain. I'm 4'10 (.5 on a good day) and I needed the smallest bike possible. After looking and being unable to find anything decent in my size I finally bought a bike from bikesdirect.com and even my "extra small" frame is a teeny tiny bit too tall.
Will keep a look out for you!

yeah, my bike is even A LITTLE to tall for me... i'm trading in my 700-28s for some 650s week though and that should do the trick, supposedly. i'm just hoping my pedals don't drag. we'll see what happens! i just don't want my treasure hitting the tube on accident again, lol. it's not cute/fun.
northernsoulbyrd05.29.09 - 9:41 am
reply
At this point my "treasure" is just some spare change and pocket lint, and it's been hit by quite a few tubes of varying sizes.
Hah!
Sorry I've been missing your rides, I been busy, and you've been so diligently posting on my MySpace. So maybe this weekend is the one!
I rode a 43cm with 650s and um, it was crazy. I felt like my face was scraping against the ground. Although, since your frame is bigger, it may not feel that way. Let me know how the 650s go.
I propose a 47cm and under ride.
Also, crazy all the varying inseams to height here. I'm 4'10 with a 28" inseam and been told I have long legs for my height. That was so nice to hear.

Coa-Coa I thought about getting a kilo tt pro recently but a few things kept me from it… you can check out the smaller IRO frames (46cm) but I am not sure what your budget is and what you will be using it for.
hope you find something soon.. miss seeing you around (i haven't been out on the big rides in a while)

let's make it a 49cm and under ride, cuz i know other shorties who ride frames a bit taller than mine! Let's do it. :)
Sunday, I may not even make it to my own ride, lol. My homies have been nagging me to ditch my ride and go to Beat It one of these Sundays. I have to go AT LEAST once before I leave to Portland. If I end up going though, I'll let you know, Liz.

kathryncupcake has a heidi. dual 650s because shes so short. unfortunately she just moved to norcal last week, so you wouldnt be able to ride hers to see if it fits or whatever.
get an iro. you wont be disappointed. stem length and seat post height have just as much to do with proper bike fit as standover height.

the issue is nicki wanted a bike more as a beater/temporary until she fixed up her roadbike.. kilo tt = cheap.. while building up an iro heidi is like 800/900. although to be hoenst, if i ever went the single speed route i'd def go the heidi route.

Just checked the size of the frame I've got that's gathering dust in my garage. If anyones interested, its a 50.8cm. $25bucks. The guy who sold it to me advertised the wrong size but the drive was long and for $25 bucks I figured why not, but I'll never build it up (had it now for 2 years).
I'll bring it to Choppercabras if you speak up.
