I recently fought a ticket with a trial by written declaration. Still waiting on results. I believe the extension gives you a month from when you request it. Try it again online in a day or so to verify - the extension date should be later. Just wait until closer to the date that the bail is due to actually pay the bail and get your extension.

thats definitely not right. go request an extension on the lasuperiorcourt.org website. with almost any ticket it will be a 2 month extention making the new date 8/12. When getting a trial by declaration form they make you pay the ticket amount, if your found innocent they will refund it, if not you can request a court trial. If you think you have a good case you can go straight to court and wont have to pay unless found guilty.

I didn't pay the ticket amount after I got my first extension. Instead, I got a fine - $300 for bail - on top of my ticket... When I went to see the judge I asked her to remove the $300 as I thought my new payment was going to be around $300 (bail fine) + $400 (ticket itself) but she said no... and that she would reduce the amount. I paid $201 (she gave me $99 off) which I paid within the week I was allotted. And that was that. Had I wanted to fight that... I could have gone to court. Instead I just paid the $201.
Try it. Fuck paying the entire ticket... it's close to $400 for the ticket. Just let the extension expire, get the bail/fine in the mail... go to court asap... ask the judge to reduce it and pay that.

Should have read before posting. I guess I ended up doing what PC explained in his post. Just pay the bail amount.
Now the more pressing question on my part is, will this count as a point towards my drivers license as I've heard contradicting statements - one of which says it absolutely should not and will not affect your driving record.

Go to court... and ask the judge if she can lower it.
Are you sure that's not your ticket amount?
The judge can lower it, but it's at their discretion. Can't guarantee that they will. Also can't guarantee that they won't laugh at you when you come up to speak and finds out it was earned on a bicycle.

the last thing i want to do is show up in court and have to talk to a judge. that makes me uncomfortable. i thought the whole trial by declaration thing was so you didnt have to go waste an entire day at the courthouse.
it says bail amount next to the dollar amount. there is no mention of how much the ticket cost.

It's either go to court and see if the judge will lower it or pay the full bail amount.
Good luck.

also, i just googled the violations number on that piece of paper (21453a 29) and its something with having crossed the limit line. im assuming thats when your car crosses and obstructs the crosswalk at a red light? thats certainly not what i was ticketed for.
fuckkkkkkkkkkkk this shit is so annoying.

When you go to the courthouse you'll just talk to the clerk, not a judge. Just do it like I said. Also you can email me with a description of what happened and I'll see if I can help you plan your defense.
