East End Ridazz: The Zombie Apocalypse Ride

Can the ridazz survive a zombie onslaught?
Only time will tell.
This is the Zombie Apocalypse ride. Zombies on bicycles are taking over in the hills and valleys above Los Angeles!
This ride will be a bit different. A bit of a game if you will, a sort of combination of bike tag and pursuit racing.
The ride will start as normal, however only a small group of riders will be given cards with the route. These riders will have the job of protecting the others from a following group of zombies, as they ride a 15.5 mile loop through Pomona and the maze of suburban streets that separate it from the final safe point (the return to the starting point of the ride).
The zombie group will start a couple minutes after the main group and will attempt to catch the entire ride. if the zombies pass you you will be designated a zombie as well, if anyone is left "alive" at the end of the ride, there will be some sort of elimination to determine the final survivor (as every one knows, with zombies there can only be one survivor), and there will be some prizes involved, some original artwork, and maybe something else.
The ride planned will be a 15.5 mile loop, and as this valley isn't as flat as LA, expect some climbing, but nothing TOO drastic.

Point of clarification, Mr. Chairman: How will the spoke-card-carrying ridazz, whose job it is to protect their group from the zombies, convey the route to the rest of the group? By calling out the turns, or by riding in front? If the latter, how will they protect the group from the pursuing zombies, who I presume will be approaching from the rear?
Or is this one of those things where knowing the answer would spoil the fun?

the way I was envisioning it, whoever ends up with the route is responsible for the other riders around them, it's up to them to get their group to the end, however they want to do that.
I would guess that it would be acceptable to run from the zombie group as they approach.

haha, great ride, and we totally made the best of it... too bad we managed to start getting off route within the first 200 yards... then totally blew it when i overshot a turn, by about a block, before even beginning to look for it...
Also too bad that not enough people showed to make it even worthwhile to play the planned thingy, but meh, we had a great time, some great food, some good beer and all that shit.
I'm going to make a few changes to the route to make it even more rediculous (although a bit easier to navigate, sort of) and we'll use it at a later date.

Oh yeah, and I totally figured out what that creak on my bike was, damn 8mm bolt on the crank was slightly loose, not enough to be a worry or anything, in fact it was tight, tight enough so I though it was as tight as it could go with the short allen I keep on me, but my long handled allen I had at home was able to fix the problem, either that or pulling and reseating the crank fixed it, either or, whatever it's gone, I think.

Man, I know this is a bit off topic, but since the ride is done--I would like to say that I had a really great time at Claremont Graduate Universitiy's open studios. Fuzz--thanks for inviting me. Your stuff, the jpaintings, animal cutouts, bike collage and photo prints (incoluding bike signs and ridazz) were so great. There were so many other good things to see in other artists studios, too.
Let me just say, Fuzz, you make some really good salsa.
