Road Rash

Girl Power's first road rash! I got this yesterday while attempting to parallel cross over a deep groove at the edge of a driveway entrance from the street. Next time I won't do it unless I can bisect the groove at a 45 degree angle.
I decided to take the pic today in all it's ooey-gooey goodness!

It's about eight inches long, way too big for a band-aid. I washed it with tepid soapy water right after it happened. Then when I got home I poured Hydrogen Peroxide on it and let it dry and then applied a thick coating of Neosporin ointment on it. That seems to be doing the trick.

Yes, keep it ventilated during the day.
I slept with a 'non-stick' Gauze pad (preferably Johnson & Johnson) wrapped around my road rash, so I don't have to deal with unnecessary questions about blood stains on my sheets.

Might be too big for this too, but you could try Tegaderm. Definitely made life a lot easier when I was waiting for some scrapes to heal up a while back.

I know! I tried to sleep with my leg outside of my comforter last night and I woke up to a fuzzy-gooey mess! I poured HP over it and reapplied the ointment. I said "ointment"! Hehehe!
Being able to say "ointment" is the only good thing to come out of this. :O)

Best to keep that wound clean and covered.
Non stick gause works best while using a section of panty hose to keep it on.

don't use neosporin, it contains neomycin which when enters the blood stream is nephrotoxic. bacitracin or polymyxin instead, those two don't contain neomycin.

my gf just got in a major fall and punctured her ankle with her peddle and skinned her knee. we had to go to the docs and she had to get anesthetized in order to clean all the dirt gunk out. it was pretty gross. hope you feel better.
