Dared by a Cop.

So I'm riding my bike from work to home through Carson street and it's always busy on the intersection of Carson and Vermont because of the UCLA Harbor Med Ctr and the 110 on-ramps on carson street. Usually I'm riding on Carson Street because it's my direct path home on three lanes going east bound.
This Sherrif is on the right turn as I'm waiting on the right lane and gives me the spiel on why I'm not turning on a right turn lane. I act like some forgotten tourist as if it's all three lanes going in one direction. I'd call him a pig and dick chomper and what not, but looking back at
how many times I roll on the street, he's right. It is a right turn only lane.
So remembering the bicycling street smarts, and remembering this:
There's two things I've learned about that.
1. Act like a "I'm lost, I don't know" kind of a touristy guy. Chances are like I did, the cop would just warn me so long as I know now. I know now. Mission accomplished. Results may vary.
2. At a red light intersection, when the right lane is a right turn only but there is a continuous right lane ahead after the intersection, Stay at the left of right turning traffic. If possible, ride on the crosswalk.
The final thing the cop told me is to ride on the lane I dare you. I didn't like that dare. But a few seconds of pausing, he just told me to "ride on the crosswalk" and sped off on the right. If it wasn't that bad, I continued on the right lane until I reached an another intersection at carson and figueroa where it's a right turn only. It's only then where I had to stop at the middle of the left lane the intersection.
I don't have a LJ so this is where I can post my bike dilemmas.

Why should we ride the crosswalk? You just said to ride to the left of right turning traffic.

it's funny because i've of so many cops telling people to stay glued to the right hand curb. it's nice to hear about a proactive cop that ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT!
thanks for sharing and ride safe!
