Improving Glendale Blvd.

Glendale Blvd. between the 101 and the 2 freeway is arguably the most treacherous strip of road on the east side. Its no surprise that the 2 was intended to connect to the 101 except for the protests the local community. The resulting street has become really hostile to peds, community and bikes.
Aside from Jesus Castillo who recently lost his life here. We also saw a ridaa named Lon go down hard after a burrito project. And of course the recent hit'n'run of Roadblock.
If these accidents of our friends and fellow riders freaked you out. If you have seen your blood boil on Glendale or your life pass before your eyes. If you laid down and pretended to be dead on the pavement where Jesus Castillo lost his life ...
Please consider attending these meetings:
FROM THE LACBC:
Next week there is the potential to get involved and help make the current terminus of the 2 Freeway into Glendale Blvd. a more pedestrian/bike friendly area. $12 million has been earmarked to upgrade the southern terminus of the 2 Freeway and to address transportation issues and community concerns on Glendale Boulevard.
The purpose of this project is to develop a balanced transportation system serving local and regional transportation needs as well as to reduce congestion and provide improved transportation mobility at the SR-2 Freeway Terminus. The following are the specific project objectives:
Improve traffic flow/reduce congestion at the SR-2 Freeway Terminus
Design the freeway terminus to be compatible with the existing residential and commercial uses
Provide pedestrian enhancement at the SR-2 Freeway Terminus
Next week there are two community workshops. Your participation will help to ensure bike and pedestrian concerns are addressed.
The meetings are:
Tuesday, June 9th, 6:30-8:30pm, at Mayberry Elementary School 2414 Mayberry St. LA 90026
Thursday June 11th, 6:30-8:30pm, at Barlow Hospital, 2000 Stadium Way, LA 90026
