New guy with a question about rides and links

Hey everyone, I'm a new guy here and I'm wondering if I have to sign up here for a ride or if I just show up when and where they start?

Second question is if anyone has checked out most of the links on the link page as a lot of them are dead, haven't been updated in a long time, or lead to Asian porn? I don't know about the policies about the links so some of these might be fine but I just wanted to ask.
