there is no way that that "cost" $2300. he might have spent $2300 over a couple of years, ending up with a shit-ton of spare parts, but even then it shouldnt have cost much more than a grand.

I also like how he claims to not know what brand the cog is, but it must be good since he "spared no expense", and in the picture you can clearly see it's a standard Euro Asia Imports cog.

plus the brakes, the bb, labor, other random parts not listed, plus tax and youve just wasted a bunch of money on a gaspipe frame.

I e-mailed him asking if he really paid that much, and this is how he responded.
If I didn't pay what I said I paid why in the he'll would u have
itemized all the stuff that's on the bike? Any person could
look these things up and see for them self what places
charge for them. As you obviously don't know every store and
supplier charges a different price for these items and on top
of that you have to pay for the build as well. Do yourself a
favor and don't email me again.
As I stated earlier that's what I paid regardless of what you say. I'm not really too concerned with your opinion. I dont care if I paid 50 grand for the bike. If I did that's my loss not yours! I dont understand why you care anyway. Im not asking for the amount that I paid for the bike anyway!! Bid on the bike if you want it, if not leave me alone.

Said dude has a point, if you don't see it as a good deal just look the other way. Nobody is forcing you to pay him anything.
Granted he didn't have to be such a douche about it. How did you phrase the question, sounds like you might have worded it in such a way that he took it as an insult?

Bikes could get a bit pricey if you want high end parts, but to each his own...Right...

1st msg to him:
Did you really pay $2300 for this?
Here is my breakdown of the parts:
Frame: $200
Brake: $50
Stem: $70
Seatpost: $80
Saddle: $80
Wheels: $230
Tires: $70
Cog: $20
Lockring: $10
Pedals: $40
Straps: $100
Headset: $40
Cranks: $100
Grips: $10
Paul Lever: $25
That's barely over $1000. You got jipped.
2nd msg to him:
I may not know what EVERY store charges, but I know
what O20 charges. Putting together a bike costs $50
from a shop.
=================
I never said I wanted to buy the bike. I just wanted to inform him that $2300 is a jip.

lol - dude wtf you discounted everything by almost half, added it up, and told him he got jipped!
No wonder he got irritated, I would have been too. The prices on your list there are so exaggerated it's no wonder he responded the way he did!

maybe on the saddle and cranks. that doesn't justify a price difference of $1000.

also note that the cog is eai deluxe, the wheels are not velocity deep vs, they're velocity fusions or aeroheads.

sounds to me / seems to me it could be stolen. if that's the way he responded on the email.

Good luck finding a new pake frame for $200
Last I checked, they were $300+ new. I have no idea what O20 charges for frame/fork but LAB was charging $305 for a Pake frameset the last time I was in there. That's the first thing on the list, and you took about 33% off of the retail price.
I wouldn't buy this bike or even recommend anyone to, I do think it's way overpriced even with an accurate list of parts. You could get a muuuch better bike for that kind of money. But to cite the guy as a dickhead ain't really right imo.
$2,300 is too expensive for this bike
