If you really want your post to cause a stir.
Try with an accurate or at least interesting post title.
If you post is about going vegetarian dont call it CRANKMOB cause you were on CM when you discovered a vegetarian restaurant.
If your post is about the Denver Critical Mass ... don't call it "Critical Mass" get specific!
Following these simple tips will attract the right people to your posts for the right reasons and everybody will love you.
ANOTHER TIP: many of us write the title first ... then start scribing our post. thats what I did here ... I barely escaped the tragedy of titling this post "BAD POST TITLES" ... after reading what I had written I realized that this would not at all communicate the meaning and intention of the post, so i fixed it.
Now as a final caveat, this post is not directed to those you who dance in the margins of sensibility (like a cross between a yippie performance artist and a dada poet ) by intentionally titling your posts in a misleading way to create a moment of shock when the clicker realizes they have been duped into digging into a thread that was completely different than they anticipated.
On the contrary ... the practice of overall improvement of post titles will make a broader canvas for your art. As the average reader becomes more and more comfortable reading posts that are actually described accurately in the title, they will be showered in joy and wonderment when they discover the magic a creatively conceived thread title intentionally designed to beguile and amaze.
write on.
