My suggestion- finish building it first or at least get all your parts in order before painting
Personally would leave the paint if its the stock paint job unless:
-it's really rusty
-really scratched up
-you hate the color
-you really love to paint shit :)
If all of the parts are kinda crappy there is something to be said about a complete beater bike. Stickers are also a fun option for creating a more custom look.
Yeah I got all the parts already I'm just trying to decide if I should leave the paint as is. It is a bit rusty but the original paint and lettering makes it look pretty cool.
when its down to frame and fork just take a terry cloth and some good and kind of abbrassive wax like nufinish or finish 2000 and just wax the hell out of it -- it will clean up the original decals and get all the dirt out of the scratches and make it shine the best its going to get- then put it together and ride the thing it will look nice at night and you call always paint it down the road.
