howdy y'all again

In need of a roadie to do some serious miles on, what can anyone suggest ? i was gunna check out a used Surly Long-Haul with racks. but the fluffer had already sold it when i called him again.

anything i need to know ? thinking of throwing on slightly fatter tires, racks n paniers on an old roadie.. or any roadie i can find. i heard mtn bikes are good as well but i know i wont want to ride one.

 Go check out the Cannondale Quick
theres 6 models. Price range from like $399- up
It has 700 x 35 tires.
Cannondale's site says its a "recreation" bike though.

 touring bike is the new track bike, etc.

if you can't find a 700c frame you like, you can also get a hold of a decent fully rigid MTB and throw drops, bar-cons, and slick tires on it.
