i just sold my bianchi hybrid. :( wasnt riding it anymore so i sold it to a friend that would love on it. makes me a sad panda though! it was the first nicer bike that i had bought. and i definitely used it a lot.
Decided to bump this thread since the title seemed appropriate for my question.
Is it just me, or is there a majority here that started doing rides in general on fixed-gear?
With all the recent threads in regards to "first time, geared", I'm starting to wonder.
As for myself, I'm on my way to getting my geared-time reduced, the days of shifting are making me feel like an old man.
I can't speak for the majority, but my friends and I started riding mountain bikes first. I was riding with a mountain bike for almost two years before switching to a singlespeed / fixed gear bike. I still ride the trails on occasion, but I mostly commute on the fixie.
This video reminds me of when I got my first bike. I swear... I could've rode in this one small parking lot for days!! I do miss being a kid again. But you know what? When I first rode my bike... especially with you guys... it brought that joy back!
I was about that kid's age. I had a small black bmx style bike with coaster break. My dad took me down into the Arroyo Seco hiking trail under Suicide Bridge. It was all dirt so if I fell it wasn't a big deal.
It wasn't until I was about 10 until I got my first blue Roadmaster road bike from Sears. My brother and I would ride all over town in Highland Park and NELA trying to find places we haven't been... Kind of like what I do now. :)
