I nominate him for rider of the week. Anyone else agree?
He led 1500 riders at LACM, stopped at red lights, kept most of them in the right two lanes, talked to and communicated with LAPD and brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of girls and guys. I rode the train home with hundreds of riders and they were exhausted (he took the ride 22 miles) but happy and definitely coming back again next month. Isn't this what we are all about, getting more people on bikes, getting more people happy to be on bikes and getting more girls to ride bikes?
I say he should be ROTW, what say you?

Hell yeah! Aktive's the man! He's always cheerful and friendly and genuine and down to blaze (had to add that in there). I second this nominominomination.

As I posted earlier this am, I concur. Here's my reasoning from my earlier post:
Aktive gets my vote for ROTW--that cat (along with others in the biking community, too) worked his ass off before and during LACM, keeping the info flowing, and constantly encouraging folks to keep it positive. Those efforts largely succeeeded--LACM this month (following last month's ride and less-than-stellar coverage) could have gone any number of ways, but this month I think we made important strides as a community, with LAPD, and we only can gain from the media coverage that didn't get the negative story that LACM could have devolved into. Next stop: bike lanes on every freakin street (I wish).
I also thought about Sgt. Krumer and his LAPD command and bike officers as ROTW, but, as hard as they worked and as deserving as they potentially may be for the work they put in to working with us on LACM rather than against us, I'd like to keep my nuts and don't want them chewed off by this forum.

seriously, dunno why i would be ROTW.
im just aktive
trying to make the streets safer for us. trying to keep us out of jails and away from tickets...
lacm is ever growing .. and for some change is scary, but some times change can be good.. as long as it has a positive vibe
but i gotta give mad props for everyone involved in helping LACM be what it is and what its going to be..
i am appreciative for this.... but i want to let everyone know THAT OBVIOUSLY I DIDNT DO THIS ALONE....
MANY PEOPLE HELPED: attending meetings, designing spoke cards, printing them both sides, laminating, cutting, handing them out as ridazz arived at LACM, to many coming up to me and donating some cash so i didnt have to pay for it all myself.
several people asked to remain anonymous about their help and participation, and due to that, i wont mention anyone at all..
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. YOU KNOW HOW YOU HELPED, FOR THAT, I GRACIOUSLY THANK YOU..
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS. . . ALL YOU SHOULD BE ROTW, not me...
i want to name you all.. but dont know who wants to be recognized or not.
PLEASE, IF YOU WANT TO HELP LACM. let me know. let roadblock know, let alex thompson know.. let anyone you know who is involved in the cycling community.

NEGATIVE! I have respect for aktive, but the route for Critical sucked so bad. Alot of riders left to make their own little rides around LA. If that doesnt tell you anything, idk what will.

Agree to disagree on the CM route. I really liked the swing east into DTLA & it rocked going around corners and stumbling upon crowds of other ridazz in DTLA. Bikes take over the streets, how is that bad?
Definitely raising a glass to Aktiv for stepping up to the plate on this one. ROTW much deserved.

ha ha, how entertaining it is to wake up to uneducated remarks by ignorant individuals that are only here to ride for their own selfish reasons..
thanks man, i needed a good laugh this morning.
but obviously you arent part of the demographic of LACM we are trying to help.
obviously you dont care about anyone other than yourself when you ride,... which is unfortunate, because there are quite a number of seasoned ridaz with 5+10+ years riding with LACM.. that are involved in the bettering of the bicycle community.
from infrastructure, to fair treatment to cyclist involved in accidents, to bike racks at your local community centers to bicycle collectives out there down to help you out for a minimal cost if you cant afford to get back on the road...
you must be that small percentage of lame ridaz out there just riding and causing a mess of rides whether it be your small lil personal ride or LACM which is obviously not for you.
LACM is for all those seeking a voice in this anti bicycling society we are trying to change...
but if you prefer riding as an enemy to law enforcement as opposed to riding with their cooperation, then by all means go ahead man.
im here trying to keep people from getting killed from going into oncoming traffic. from getting tickets, from being harrassed by the po po... fighting for fair treatment.
im here so that the rookie ridaz can join whether be a new teenage boi with no experience, to the older woman on her cruiser to the seasoned ridaz riding his 10th year on his fixie.. we all need voices out there. and im just one of them
but if you think im a narc, then thats very entertaining. nice story,
but ive been working with some of the most veteran of ridaz that so many people, kids and older experienced ridaz still look up to and admire for all their contributions to midnight ridazz bringing it to a point where it is now, . . a noteable force in the community that is here to stay and to make known WE ARE NOT 2ND CLASS CITIZENS..
so if you are upset at all the work i and other ridaz are doing in order to better YOUR CYCLING RIGHTS... then obviously you are missing the big picture and thats a shame man.
try to think about other ridaz other than yourself for a change man.

The reason Aktive is ROTW is not what he has done, but HOW he has done it.
The more grown up of us can agree to disagree with how to deal with the cops inserting their presence in LACM.
But most all of us agree that what the world needs more of is heads like Aktive, who care enough to get involved.
Aktive shows real love for the community as seen by his words and actions.
The type of love and energy that people like him pour into Midnight Ridazz is what keeps this scene vibrant, alive, and growing.

I like the comparisons with crank mob and all the bad press that

Your leadership will mos def inspire more of us to be cool and know that were being watched. Let put our best foot forward. Night ride now are not that underground. Specially since tall bike are on mtv and jaredleto ride single speed. Keep cool and stay safe everyone.

aktive's put up with our shit at the oven and done more than most by stepping it up to save critical mass and keep it true. There is no route still and we are suppose to be apart of trafik that's the point of critical mass. I wish we could save the bike scene like aktiv has saved critical mass. He deserves it. He puts in the miles and keeps the community. The best mom rida around. Think about this though so many rides sprung out from moms.
