 I got shot with a pellet gun while riding on the badger song a few months ago. The guys who did it are in jail for 65 counts of vandalism for shooting out 65 windows of cars on the previous weekend.

 I'm still subscribed to the Seattle Randonneurs' listserve. The following is a quote from a recent post:

The Peter McKay thing:
There are a couple things that really bother me about this.
First, it is being played up like the bicyclist was shot by a pesky little BB gun. The fact is that there is no BB gun around that can fire a projectile with such force that it penetrates two layers of clothing, then pierces the victims, skin, and continues through the thoracic wall, lung and associated internal tissue. Yes, it is true that the projectile was a BB but the fact remains that this assault was perpetrated with some other form of fire arm.
I used to have Starling problems when I was a hick in the sticks.I shot them with a 22 that was loaded with a single BB shot. This was a .22 caliber round, with associated powder load equivalent to a .22 Short cartridge as I recall. The projectile was a BB. It is an easy, safe way to kill varmints at close range in an environment where you don't want the projectile to have the capacity to travel long distances (urban/suburban settings). I am confident that this, or something like it is involved in this instance.
And these facts are not being distributed. The story tends to read 'Bicyclist shot with BB gun'. People need to understand that this is something much more dangerous, in fact potentially lethal that is at large in the community.
With a pneumothorax Peter was at risk of a collapsed lung and ultimately death, The second BB apparently narrowly missed his Aorta. Rupture the Aorta and the victim is at risk of rapid internal bleed out, often resulting in death.
I understand that someone else reported children were shot with BB guns in the White Center/West Seattle area recently. If I had to guess I would speculate that these acts were perpetrated by the same individuals, and that they are probably juveniles or young adults out to cause mayhem, another form of vandalism in my mind. Some are portraying this as violence against cyclists but I think it is more likely that a moving cyclist represents a more attractive target than school kids standing at the side of the road. This is all speculation on my part.

 This reminds me of those paintball attacks that occur randomly.
Right now, I usually sling a Spyder XTra with an electronic trigger and a full hopper/CO2 tank along my messenger bag.
But I want to get me this killer kit...

Violence isn't the answer, but these aren't cops or people trying to shut down a CM.
These are just regular civilians that have been skull-fucked one too many times.
It's time that we show them we aren't playing around either.
This is especially important to me due to my isolated riding-route.

 one time this dude in an SUV tried to ram me, but i swerved and caught him in traffic.

Then he tried to stab me in the face with a bic pen.

i was like dude youre crazy.

Then he tried to jump out of the car.

He got smashed with his own SUV door a few times.
