70 racers formed teams of 5. Right out the gate Super Cole got separated from Wolfpack A and roamed with other racers finding his way to Docweiller. while 4 of Wolfpack A were waiting for him all fixed gear Team Dang!! finished 1st - with only 7 seconds to spare as Super Cole finally made it in and Cub Camp only 30 seconds behind him. That was a good year for Cub Camp...
The second year 120 racers participated. Wolfpack A stayed together to take the win with Beatriz a.k.a She-Wolf the only new member of the line-up replacing Will from last year's team. Cubcamp didn't fair so well placing in the mid teens after an unfortunate flat. Wolfpack A went legend having taken a stretch of the 10 freeway to expand the gap against the field. Team Cheat to Win came in second and Team MaryJane placed 3rd. There was some controversy as to whether Team Cheat to Win did in fact cheat by handing in their paper out of order... but it mattered not as the only prize that matters - the city's most coveted prize - the Wolfpack Dog Tags were awarded to first place and everyone else gots a cookie. Special honorary props went to LABrakeless for being the first all fixed all breakless team to come in.
hahaha I was juss tryin to stir up a little trouble....
also, little known fact, Claudio's team might have gotten first had they crossed the line rather than ride past on Vista Del Mar which was just east of the lifeguard road that the line is actually on..... who knows?!
Frozen I am going by the law, if your 18 you're legally considered an adult.
But you're welcome to join the team if worse comes to worse.
So far we have 4 people
Chynna
Ray
Mad Mike
Alfredo
___________. We need one more person preferably under the age of 18 in order for it to be a legit Underage/Junior Team.
FYI: We probably will not win so don't get any ideas, let's just finish this and beat some other teams ^__^
"mr rollers east to the beach" will return for the third year in a row for all you non-hustlers that just want to cheer on your team and enjoy the festivities.
Just so you know, I am sending serious vibes towards this race so that it will have to, for some reason, be pushed back to some time when I'm not below the fucking equator. seriously.
i know i'm probably being a dick about this, but can we have a qualifier? like One wolfpack attendance. Our team had some trouble from a newbie and i think we should minimize that much at least. practice riding fast at night, and then riding during the day, race against the elements.
i just really really really really really really really really really (no copy and paste) really really really don't want to ride with such random people who don't know how because i'm pretty bad myself. bad + bad = death
yeah man its's definitely ride at your own risk.... and it can be DANGEROUS. PLEASE EVERYONE. BE SAFE. OBEY ALL LAWS. but random riders are only part of the danger involved as there is traffic and peds everywhere....
what a lot of the more experienced teams do is let the mass sort itself out before going for it. or strategize about routes that most people don't take.... be very proactive and aware of other riders. maybe that's why wolfpack rider teams place high because they have experience with the chaos of mixing with new riders I dont know.
I tell you what though, I came damn fucking close to wiping out while pacelining a team that disintegrated like dominoes right in front of me. if you look at 3:06 (a few frames after) you will see an entire team just eat it. I barely made it out!
AND A BIG THANKYOU to Mr. ROLLERS for hosting the chill ride to this!
we need some peeps to grab a fire pit at Docweiller too... anyone willing to get there at 10am (cereally) to reserve a pit? Wolfpack t-shirts to you if ya do!
Holy shit! That shirt looks awesome!
Also, re: the Juniors team. Gabby- You, Tarsis and I should make a Barely Legal team, for those of us who just turned 18!
Argh... How deep in Inglewood? I am on La Brea and Washington... I usually do all my business on the West side, so I am constantly in the area... I commonly ride up La Cienega into Inglewood or Westchester to get some miles in...
Did I meet you at Bicykillers a few weeks ago? I was the only fixed rider that night...
haha...well I can't decide if it should be a pair of slip ons or if it should be an SPD shoe...
I think in the spirit of Wolfpack it should be slip ons. They'd be black of course, with the Wolfpack logo on the side (the sticker logo) or maybe like just the city scape with the buildings you know? and then say wolfpack hustle on the heel..or on the bottom part of the shoe..on the rubber part.
then maybe like claw marks or howling wolves or something on the toe.
i remember when those were the shit.. like 3 years ago.... dirty motherfuckers, with they dirty ass mufuggin socks walking around like they shit dont stank... pfft
chynna think of it as having fun.
and I def would like to see you guys on a tandem
with a flag!

You're creative, you just make no sense.
As for racing as a joke/ for fun, I'd rather leave this race up to the people who aren't taking it as a joke. That's like going to the doctor when you're not even sick, when there are others who ARE sick.
its going to get fucking hectic. traffic patterns themselves will disintegrate at the sight of 200 ridazz running reds and what not. i saw some guy drafting a car and then broke his collarbone when the car came to an abrupt stp after other ridazz cut off the car.
don't take it so lightly and so jokingly, you're putting other ridazz at risk as well. this isn't a parade, its a race, and it gets aggressive out there.
WTH? I was in the middle of type-type-typing away, and it posted all on its own!
anyways...
TEAM BARELY LEGAL
1. Frozen Fingersss
2. Gav
3. Danya (fixed) (also, I'm Valley Sarah)
4. hitsthepoles_ow (yeah, 19.5 is close enough, I'm closer to 19 anyways)
5. ????

ew. don't get your panties in a wad. you too chynna.
when i meant me racing was a joke, i meant only because there is no way our team would win. but i still want to try because i think it will be a very awesome experience and so the actual riding i am taking quite seriously. i get its dangerous so don't say i am putting other ridazz at risk. i call bullshit on that remark.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that you're putting other riders at risk, but I definitely agree with him as far as the race is hectic. Personally, I'm scared of those more serious things, that's why I'm deciding I'd rather not do this for fun, you know what I mean? That's what I meant, but if you're going to do some serious riding, all the power to you!
FF I love that you and your team are racing and I love that you are going to have fun doing it. I'd say the vast majority of the racers are in it for the FUN. while winning wolfpack dogtags is no fucking joke, it's all love and good times getting to the beach in one piece so that you can have a blast at the BBQ! I'm glad that the grand prix is the same day - keep the overly competitive testosterone roadies away. :) I can't wait to see your team at Tang's. please be safe of course but dont let people try to talk you down. this is all about FUN.
Debut,
Just because i have an beard and mustache and an fact that me,an 17 year old kid is bigger than most of the other guy ridazz dosnt mean you can classify me as being 25,
Madmike ur a cool youngster im only pulling ur tail.. The deep voice and the beard does make u look way older than 17.... That could work to ur advantage when your young, im sure youll hate this fact when ur older..
TEAM CAMERA!!!! We DOMINATED the entire race last year!!! We CAUGHT everyone! We were at the START and the FINISH at the exact same moment.
We took you on the freeway and through intersections and didn't even break a sweat!
If you wanna be a part of the biggest, most important team of this entire race sign up below with your name and what type of camera you'll be using to document:
Manhattan Beach Grand Prix will not affect the race in terms of traffic but might affect who will participate in the race. TonyZ and She_Wolf have raced and won both races, don't know what race they will be doing.
any word on whether the 6/28 date is confirmed? I have a friend who moved back to nor-cal who i am trying to coordinate taking time off of work/hitching a ride with his bike back down south to participate

Looking for a team as well. I've started biking 'round here in earnest just recently and don't have my biking mechanics down pat, but I have a fast road bike and am a marathon runner, so I'll keep moving forward even if I have to crawl.
So any one can race? as long as there is one fixie on the team correct? No entry fee etc? SCLA Team I know I probably wont get first but as long as we dont come in last :)
Also, I have 3 walkie-talkies for use if you need them for race day. I might be able to get us some folding tables and chairs, too.
I plan on talking finish line pictures and doing what I can to help set up and prepare at the finish line. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help out.
I am super excited about the helicopter, that is incredible.
well i started a new team...i have 3 people in we need one more...
all 3 riders have fixed...so we need one more fixed or a girl...
i stay by hollywood western...
havent decide on the name...ahahah any good names..

I was wondering if the 2nd st tunnel race is also happening this year. I haven't heard anything of it? I was hoping to do that instead, seeing how this race happens on Sunday!!! Sorry but I am dedicated to my Polo God can't miss church. I will show up to support the teams and see the finally but I need to save my energy to kick some ass:D
Good Luck to all the racers and Please ride safe and have fun!!!
Good luck to the girls!! maybe next year if its not on a Sunday I'm down:D
I'm down to join your team.. Was a races back in the day, know the city pretty well having grown up here and I'm not above pushing a girl down to win it all.. ;)
i originally hadn't planned on doing this, but now that it's so near, i'm getting caught up in the hype! if anyone needs another rider (road or fixed), let me know!
orlando: it looked like you already had it figured out! i just found a team (what time is it? ridetime!) but if i knew you were still looking, i would have been down (maybe then i can get on my roadie instead of repping as the fixie rida)!

on another note, i just realized that in order to finish the ~18mile route in 45 mins, that's maintaining 24 mph the whole way, including obstacles, traffic lights, etc. doing 18 miles in 48 mins as mentioned is still a very respectable 22.5 mph avg in mid-day traffic. now, doing the 18 mile route may not be the most efficient due to certain intersections or whatever, so realistically, i think people will be riding routes slightly longer than 18 miles. that means the actual avg speed is going to be slightly faster than that. this race is gonna be nuts! (but you all knew that already)

Last year there were quite a few riders that showed up and created their teams in the Tangs parking lot. I don't think you will have any problem creating one (if you haven't already done so). SImply show up and ask around. There are probably plenty of displaced riders.

You won't be attending??... well you certainly are talking a lot of trash in a thread that is about the race (that you won't be attending).
If I decide to participate in your "coaster brake challenge", you will find me posting some Mom jokes in the thread that pertains to. Otherwise, enjoy your beach cruiser in the dirt
:-)
good day, kind sir. Happy cycling!

i wont be able to make the races, but i was thinking someone who has a stretcher and a truck to standby juss in case, should post a phone number to get at them with, so if the worst comes to pass, all bases are covered. also know the location of nearest hospital and shit. i dunno. i think too much.
sorry, havent been at a computer all day. been shooting our movie... if you seen us smashin from hollywood to the westside today. just wanted to clarify, that only the first place team and first all fixie team will get those yellow and purple tees. the black tees are for sale to help pay for mostly the production of the tees and also partly for organizing the awards ceremony. our volunteers and staff are the only ones receiving free black shirts. let it be known that their were only 10 yellow shirts ever made. only about 30 or less black tees were made. if we run out and there's still a demand, there's a possibility we could run more...

i can't thank you enough for throwing this ride. I've been wanting these dogtags for a long time. and my teamates mad respect for not giving up after all us thought is was over. and finishing strong
for sure, this was awesome. big props and thanks to all participants, organizers, team camera, trafik and congrats to those who walked away with the yellow shirts.
Team Tang's FTW, we got 7th!, props to Rich and Wolfpack A that took the gold with their crazy cat 1 skills. See you guys on Monday! I hope everyone shows up, including team camel toe, and that other all girl team. Speed dates!
yea yea trafik were awesome they hooked us up. i just hate the whole emphasis on fixed gears. wolfpack is about riding bikes FAST not riding fixed gears. part of the prizes were a chainring guard so i can do chainring grinds. great i was the only person on a fixed gear on my team and the thing wont even fit unless you have a tiny 44t chainring. i doubt anyone on wolfpack A would use this thing either.
THIS SHIT AINT NO HIPSTER ALLEYCAT.

Team Taco Tuesday B may have been one of the last teams to cross the finish line, but it was amazing being part of that crazy crosstown scramble! There were times when we pulled away from the pack only to run into an intersection packed with speeding racers. Teams collided, split up and all our well-laid plans disintegrated in a mass of sweaty confusion. It was toally awesome and ridiculously fast.
Ive never felt anything like it and I cant wait to do it again. Props to Roadblock, Team Camera, Harry and all the guys who made this possible and who sponsored the ride and of course...the HELICOPTER!
Props also to Pablo who did the ride on a mountainbike. With any luck, we'll all be back next year with a vengence.
I love the story about how you crashed, bent your wheel so hard it was rubbing the frame and rich punching the wheel back into semi alignment - enough to get back on the road! and win that shit!
just wanted to thank all the racers and participants in WOLFPACK HUSTLE'S ALL CITY TEAM RACE 3 2009. it was an incredible journey from east to the beach. we do it all for the love of the hustle. thanks for all the kind words! L A !!!
BIG thanks to TRAFIK Films for sponsoring this race. you guys really did it up. PBRs great prizes, funding for the helicopter. Thanks to Harry for volunteering to fly the helicopter fucking nuts, thanks to the 170 racers making up 34 teams! thanks to TRAFIK for the fly ass Purple and gold shirts. thanks to SWANK ONE for designing the illest graphic on said shirts, thanks to EVERYONE for staying SAFE and riding with care. Thanks to everyone who patiently waited at the beach by the fire pits Thanks to BICIKILLER LEE and TEAM CAMERA for capturing the footage.... fuck I forgot tons of people. I'm still tripping off today. THANKS to the LAPD for being so cool about the start. That officer was about the nicest cop ever.
THANKS to Mr. Rollers for the spoke cards and for creating the tradition of the ride to the finish line. So sorry to see that you couldnt ride this year. GET WELL SOON SIR.
I'm still excited about the race. I haven't been able to stop hitting refresh to see topics on it. Hahah I miss it already. Can't wait till next year. And cait wait to see the footage edited!

There was some controversy about 2nd place but the video replay appears conclusive that Root Run Black indeed won 2nd place... I will be posting the video soon.
That crash freaked me out.... but it showed us how well we function as a solid team. We were cool, calm collected, got back up, took care of situation, and rode as hard as we could to Dockweiller FTW! The accident made the victory that much sweeter! Such a great day.
Don/Hayden-thank you so much for putting this race together and creating one of the best hustle rides on the planet: The Wolfpack Hustle
A big ups to Traffik for the PBR apple juice, the helicopter, prizes, etc. Big ups to Orange20 for keepin that ish real.
A big congrats to all racers/riders/spectators of the day. Without everyone involved, this wouldn't be possible.
a big ups to the Sirens, even with a flat, you ladies tore it up ;-)

It was awesome racing next to (or in the case of a pace line: in front and behind) you. I certainly won't forget such an amazing race. We had a wonderful team, and I am really proud of everyone on board, crisis management and everything.
got your email. lets start coordinating everything with Trafik and team camera. I got some great footy off of SXEJEremy's helmet cam, also talk to Sean he's got some more helmet cam footy from Wolfpack A

Yeah, spoke with Sean this afternoon, he's gonna come to bicykillers tomorrow to drop off a disk with all the footy Rich shot with his helmet cam, which prolly is pretty boring since he was in the front the ENTIRE time! ahaha!
well..... I would be willing to bet that there is some interesting footage on that cam. We had an accident, we caught up with AND passed some groups. We went the wrong way into oncoming traffic. I was dubbed the "traffic coordinator" so we thought that because of the accident, that we had lost too much time, so I was rolling right into the middle of oncoming traffic and flagging down traffic to stop so that the rest of the team could get through. I'm sure the footage is actually pretty interesting. AND matt pulled the pack with his bent rear wheel at one point.... I'm sure that footage is rad! I can't wait to see it!

Yeah Hern was wearing a helmet cam. I know his helmet was cracked all to hell when he crashed (he got right up and pulled us onto the 10 fwy like a fucking champ). That should be wild footage...
meanwhile, Wolfpack Hustle All City Team Race 2 was premiered in New York City at the BFF to a SOLD OUT audience and went over well with the crowd! Next date is in Minneapolis
