My friend and I were on the Taco Tuesday ride around 1:00am we decided to head back to the starting point of the ride. We were heading west on Venice / La Brea (by the taco trucks). As we were riding west on Venice, 1 block past La Brea there was a small group of guy by the large apartment complex just hanging out . When I past a black male around 20 years old about 160lbs and no shirt jumped in front of me with a black hand gun and pointed it at me and tried to take my bike. I just keep riding fast but my buddy (1st time Rider) got freak out and the suspect cock his gun and pushed him off his bike and tried to rob him but my buddy ran for his life. We called the police and they responded fast took a police report and started to look for the suspect. To make a long story short we escaped safe but if anyone has any info on the bike please let me know

Bike is a black (spay painted, no stickers) mountain bike GT frame and white fork has a single shock in front. Look similar to this bike.

No use risking your life over a bike. If this happens to you just give them what they want.

Not wearing a shirt makes it tougher for the Police to identify the suspect if they put
on a shirt after comiting the crime.

to be fair it was a nice warm summer evening so being bare chested makes sense.

in most cases of robbery or crime, the perpetrator is almost always someone you know, or lives near you, probably even checked you out. Ask around or send someone to ask, im sure u will remember what they look, sounded like, hung out with, if he wasn't alone, most likely it was your neighborhood local losers.

it takes a thief to know a thief, if you know anyone who lives in that area have them ask around im sure they will have an answer for you. And if they are always hanging out in that area, then someone must know who they are. Bingo.
