Just call and let them know you want a bike lane down Reseda blvd in the valley.
Even if you don't ride it, your brothas and sistas do.
Stand up and be heard or sit down and shut-up.
Call right this fucking second and tell councilman Bill Rosendahls office that you want a bike lane on Reseda Blvd.
Tell them you live there or that your parents or even a freind of your does and that we need this lane to stay safe.
I called today and the girl on the phone was nice.
Dont expect to speak to Rosendahl directly.... City Council is in recess.
Rosendahls Office Numbah!

Theyre gonna want to know more than just..."we want a bike lane on Reseda Blvd" -- okay, where? see below.
---
From LABC:
We need to make sure that LADOT installs the bike lane from Devonshire to San Fernando Mission Road in September before it's too late! We have the NENC's support, but we need Councilmember Smith's support as well.
Here's what YOU can do:
Contact L.A. City Councilmember Greig Smith and tell him to urge LADOT to paint the 1-mile bike lane on Reseda Blvd. from Devonshire to San Fernando Mission Road.
Extending bike lanes on Reseda Blvd from Devonshire to San Fernando Boulevard is:
* good for local business
* good for safe and healthy neighborhood
* good for pedestrians and cyclists
* already approved
* most cost and time effective to strip while resurfacing
Please send in and email your letters to:

I just called the number. The guy seemed a little tickled that I was the 4th person to call in the past 2 hours about the Reseda bike lane. He told me to send an email to this address:
jim.horwitz@lacity.org
with my comments and that he would forward them to Rosendahl and all of the comments would be noted at the next Trans Comm Meeting.

Jim,
Thank you for your time. I am writing to urge LADOT to paint the 1-mile bike lane on Reseda Blvd. from Devonshire to San Fernando Mission Road.
Extending bike lanes on Reseda Blvd from Devonshire to San Fernando Boulevard is:
* good for local business
* good for safe and healthy neighborhood
* good for pedestrians and cyclists
* already approved
* most cost and time effective to strip while resurfacing
*good for the paint industry since they are suffering from the housing crisis
* good for America, because Americans use the lanes (for political spin, you know)
*good for people
*its good for politicians to do good, and not bad.
If you make this happen I have a feeling, you Jim, will be a hero. And the bicycling community will name a building after you, if our poor butts ever own any property in this lifetime. Can you do anything about that too while we're at it?
Thank you,

write it in your own way too. I like the responses so far. anyone want to do a canvasing ride and help m,e pass out fliers to the residents urging them to call in? we need more than cyclists involved in this.

couldnt we just get a local phone book, create fake email accounts with the residents names, and send out emails which will look amazing considering -- why is the area so into bikes now?

how about I make a ride for it, and we end at northridge park for a bbq we ride around in a small friendly group, and spread out 2 to a house... wait this is starting to sound jehova's witnessy.... uh... fuck it lets just do it anyway.
we need to emphasize that we share the same benefits. we should ask the residents to consider the bike lane as their "political line in the sand" against this peak hour traffic bullshit. also the bike lane is a buffer zone between noisy traffic and their homes. we can do this. I will write up the flier and we can make copies.
I just drove down reseda from the 118 and the road is plenty wide for a nice WIDE bike lane. a bike lane out of the door zone!

you know, i was thinking of something similar with the beverwil bike boulevard: get local support from residents! having a bike boulevard in their neighborhood would:
-reduce through-traffic
-create narrower lanes which will slow down cars
-support bicycle infrastructure
-create a safer neighborhood for children
-reduce noise
-improve local air quality
-reduce wear and tear on local streets (which take forever to get replaced)
we need to get non-cyclists involved in a serious way if we are going to make a change. we need to be able to point to a neighborhood and say "this NEIGHBORHOOD supports liveable streets.
this isnt about bikes, it's about access, quality of life and public space. currently, im writing up a flyer to pass out in cheviot hills. you're all welcome to contribute or steal my work as it helps you.
