Please take a minute to increase bicycle infrastructure!!!!¡

Ok Ridazz. Last night myself and several others had a chance to grill the LADOT directly about the reseda bike lane plans. There is a chance to put in a bike lane from Devonshire north to San Fernando Mission blvd. The street in that stretch will be repaved in September which means that a bike lane stripe can be added at little to no extra cost. While it might not seem like much, it is a HUGE step towards thwarting the removal of bike lanes along other parts of reseda with the eventual goal of connecting a north south route across the valley.
The reality is that the LADOT is directed by the politicians. When people make noise the politicians usuall listen.Â
So.....
Please please please for the sake of advancing bicycle infrastructure in LA contact councilman Smith, Zine and Rosendahl to URGE the LADOT to implement a bicycle lane from Devonshire to San Fernando Mission and beyond.Â
It may not seem like much... But it's one small stretch of bike lane, one giant ride for... Ahh fuck it just hit these people up now. Of these bike lanes don't get put in in September it will take years before repaving comes up again.

Yes. In fact we've designed a special robotic arm that is automatically triggered by your email correspondence to both addresses listed above. Upon completion of the email process, this robotic arm will guide the arm of a special representative to the email list server to press a specially designed 1024x768 pixel bevelled button. This button will direct the email list server to remove your email address from the list for up to 6 weeks.

THANK YOU.
I called Smith's office and the lady on the other end wasn't clear about the proposed bike lanes. she had been under the impression that people were in an uproar about the peak hour lanes issue. I had to fill her in that not only am I against peak hour lanes I am calling to make sure that Bicycle lanes are indeed put in with the repaving of the street between devonshire and san fernando mission as per the promises of LADOT chief engineer Alan Willis.
MAKE SURE THESE PEOPLE ARE CLEAR ON THIS. I'm actually thinking about going house to house on Reseda in that area and dropping off fliers that explain such a thing. anyone out there want to help me canvas that neighborhood? :)

Mr. Bloch
Thanks for taking the time to email me and give your input on the bike lane issue. I have asked our staff member who is working on this subject to contact you. Take care, and be safe on the road! Greig.
c'mon fuckers.... this is one of those times that we need to NAG the fuck out of people to get some infrastructure. it's not often that we can directly affect whether or not a bike lane is put in!
MAKE THOSE CALLS AND EMAILS.
baby steps people. every time they repave we have the opportunity to get a piece of the puzzle placed up in this bitch of a city.
In fact.... it would be nice if we could track ALL re-pavement projects and hound them for sharrows and bike lanes.
MAKE THOSE CALLS
in other news, I went with Sexy for a beer last night and we were doing Karaoke duet when the guy Rick Rolled us...

Hello Cousil Man!
I am a very active cyclist in the San Fernando valley. Although i have access to a motor vehicle, i chose not to use it because it hurts me to know I would pollute air. Therefore, i gladly chose to ride a bicycle or use public transportation. Riding a bicycle in the San Fernando valley can be the most pleasant experience because of the spaciousness, but it can also be the most frightening due to cars speeding 5 times as fast as me, very close by. So now i ask you, respectably and urgently, PLEASE help cyclist ride safely by putting a bike lane from the Devonshire north to San Fernando Mission blvd stretch when you repave the road in September. You'd be putting such huge smiles on ecological conscious faces. Thank you for your possible considerations. Feel free to email me back!

A beautiful letter meow. The miss spelling conveys a sincere urgency and it shows that you didn't just copy paste it from a form letter. You meant every word from your heart and he knows it. Thank you.
What about everyone else? Only 3 people have put in work so far? Even if you don't live in the valley you can make a huge difference for everyone by making one call.

Just FYI the City Council (Student Government) is in recess and Rosendahl is "not in the building" so don't expect to get him on the phone.
He's probably golfing or eating children.

I just called Rosendahl. I asked her to go the extra mile and take the bike up 2 freeking blocks more to connect to the Rinaldi street bike lane just north of the 118 freeway.
Ask for a lil bit moar!
The lady already knew it was about the bike lane!
let's keep the heat on
do you realize we can lobby for this with our calls?
Also I asked for an official comment on this issue for my blog. I know wr can count on Rosendahl he's very bike frendly!

by "we" you didnt mean us, right?
I can search craigslist for gravel and tar and such... maybe the free section... but, do you know how to pave roads? Maybe we can put some cool little gravel vert jumps there instead... so when were riding we can do some 360s or something... damn, drivers will be way jealous...
