It is a struggle of attrition. Every month we ride, we weaken they're resolve. Santa Monica will become green and bike friendly...we will ensure it. One day cars will be replaced by bicycles on Broadway and those who opposed us will realize we were right.
There isn't really a map distributed prior to the ride. Alex and his associates out there in SM usually come up with a loose ride route, which is then used as a guideline at ride time.

It's way looser than that. A couple of times we came up with an idea for a direction or route out of the city . . . and then lobbyed for it pre-ride. Then we took a vote . . . I think we were 2-1 on winning the vote.
Lately all the ride does is choose a direction at the start by shout. Then the people at the front make decisions by consensus, as is typical of Critical Mass = consensus tyranny of the front. Some people call this "leaderless" - especially Sexy.

I can't guarantee that I will be off of work in time to make the meeting point (I will certainly try), but I'm in hopes that I will be able to meet up with the group somewhere along the way!
