I adore you, Barleye! It also could have a lot to do with the amount of fun and love everyone felt on Friday which made them realize these rides can still be fun. ALSO, Brian and I were talking about how there needs to be a fetish ride again. someone do et.

The future of Midnight Ridazz needs to be announced destinations with directions and stopping at reds, otherwise the cop fiasco you witnessed on Toy Ride will continue to happen.
Glo rida suggested this way back, and everyone used to make route slips for all ridazz.
Stopping at reds is going to be the challenge we will need to follow to prevent from becoming the sad story of LACM. If we can just follow the simple steps I mentioned above we can continue to stay strong and keep the cops away.

The last 2nd Friday ride I lead, I heard bitching from all sides about me stopping at all the reds. This sort of turned me off from leading an other 2nd Friday ride.

Woah... announced destinations??? I have never ever EVER in almost 2 years had a set route or told anyone whats going to happen on a ride. You don't need to do any of that if people just follow the rules everything works fine.

I make route slips but just for people that I personally know. There's no doubt that police are infiltrating the rides under our noses... the police would be at every stop at the destination was given out.
Most of my rides stay in residential and off the beaten path. I lad the toy ride and the only reason I stayed in downtown was to go down spring street so people could see the green lane there then fourth street with all the lights and then through nokia center with all the people and all the lights as well. The carnival messed up the nokia part... if it wasn't a christmas ride with all the lights around us I would have taken the ride somewhere else such as east l.a. or lincoln heights.

The 1 time one of my routes got into the hands of one of the kids on the RWNN, they turned it into a super fast ride and luckily, they were making all the correct turns....i just stayed in the middle of the pack but it defeats the purpose of doing a route and being at the front and making the decisions on when and where to stop...sometimes stuff has to be re-routed for one reason or another....I have no problem telling people i personally know where we are going but i don't hand out route slips to people i don't know for the reason above.

You guys don't get it.
2nd Friday Rides are large scale rides that have a tendency to break up because of red lights and various speed riders. If you announced just one fucking destination to meet up at, then if it gets broken up people still know where to go if hey were told a place to meet up. You don't HAVE to have a fucking route slip. It just helps for certain rides, but this is beyond you guys. 2nd friday rides will get broken up because of thier large scale nature and this is the fucking solution. Reds are the law and common sense,
If that doesn't make sense then I give the fuck up. Go ride LACM and have a great time.

why get so hostile???
for me only....I'm not saying in my postings to run red lights...i'm just saying my rides stay together cuz Harry and I run a tight ship on them. We don't call out turns and we make it to each destination just fine....the rule is to stay behind the music and if you do, you'll get to the stops fine...
Sometimes reds are inevitable when people ride in front of us and go thru the reds before we get there and the ride follows them. You have seen this happen many times...If you have any solutions to keeping people from riding ahead of the pack, please let us know.

RWNN and Monday night Rehab are not 2nd Friday rides.
Reds will be run. I know that - I'm not that dumb.
No one has even acknowledged or tried doing what I said in the way that I suggested.

Even if the ride leaders are stopping at red lights, the larger a ride gets, the possibility increases that riders further back in the pack will be confronted with having to make a decision to either be legal, stop at red lights and lose continuity with the ride or to run the red light and risk a ticket.
I know we think of the ride as a continuous train, but the cops don't necessarily see it that way.

I hear what you guys are saying....I think everyone knows you run the risk of getting a red light ticket. Re-grouping is a big key to the rides as well. I do it and It's up to others to do it too if they lead a ride. Borfo, any ride you lead, hand out a route slip. Nobody is stopping you and nobody is stopping you from asking others to do so either. Personally I don't. We've all been corking for years now....It's part of what we do. If I approach a red light, I don't go thru it UNLESS it's clear for blocks in both directions. If I'm leading a ride and I enter a green and I have 200 people behind me, some will be caught at a red light...What is your solution for that scenario?

For christ sakes, I didn't say you have to have a route slip. Just let people know where to meet up if they get lost is all I have been saying for the last 3 years.
In regards to your question, if someone is caught at a red light at a busy intersection and the bike train is thinning out and they cant keep up, THEY STOP! Hopefully if you do it my way, they will know where to go if they get lost.

Maybe someone will invent an app for all kinds of phones that will be a sort of gps system for rides, so even if you're running late or get lost, you can turn to this awesome app and find where the ride went/is going.

Can't you basically do that with 'latitudes'? Its on the Droid and Iphone. If all your friends are active on it, you can track them all over the city (or world).

There are a few apps that do this, actually. Aside from the one that SteveO mentioned, there's one called Instamapper that we used to broadcast the location of Passage #100 (our daytime century), so that people who were planning to meet us could know where we were. People don't need a special app to view your location; you can just give out a link to the map that shows your location (and recent path).
There's also one called Geoloqi, which tries to be a little slicker, but also tends to be more buggy (or at least it was when I tried it on my droid phone) and requires a Twitter account (which I found annoying). I think that with that one, you don't need a special app to broadcast your location either.
Really, anybody with the initiative could broadcast their location on a ride and post a public link to the map. There's nothing stopping anyone from doing that.

Breathe homie it will all be okay. I get what your saying and the one thing about me is I don't run reds. I know whats up and I just dont see a need for letting people know where we are going. We all have our own way of doing things and if you want slips then go for it...
