A Park for the People

This sign was hung on a fence at Wilshire and Vermont.
A Park for the People with skate/bmx usage, a community garden, vendor spots, art classes, walk/jog path is proposed.
I WAS STOKED! cause i live in the apartment directly facing that empty parking lot. I emailed for further information, and the woman "in charge" said she had no idea what this was, and through a series of messages, informed me that this was a hoax.
How unfortunate, because this empty abyss of land could sure use it.
Anyone know where/who this came from?

this is the reply I got from Michelle Mowry (Senior Project Coordinator noted on the bulletin)
"This is a hoax. This sign is being removed this morning."
to which I replied "That is unfortunate."
and she said, "Yes, it's unfortunate that individuals such as yourself have so much time, and apparently funds, to waste on such activities that cost the City time and resources that could be spent actually making Los Angeles better for bicycling."
Individuals such as myself. Wow. what a diplomatic response.
WE NEED MORE PARKS - with less prostitution and crime in such areas.

Developer Gerding Edlen still owns the land. You can buy it from them and built your own park. Probably get a good price on the land in this market.

Yes, I'm sure that the funds being used for the sign removal have been taken directly out of the budget allocation for sharrows.
I can still sympathize with Mowery a little bit, though. It's fine to give her flak for all the real deficiencies in the city's bicycle planning, but all this sign does is get people to hassle her about some non-existent project. I assume that they listed her contact info specifically on the sign?
I mean, if there was a sign that got people calling up Michelle Mowery to express support for a
real bike project, that would be great. Getting people to call her up about a fictional (though admittedly awesome) project just makes the antagonism between her and the bike community more entrenched.
