Quick bump because I am curious what people think of the cycle track. Some bike advocates don't like them. They think it takes away from the share the road concept. Thoughts?

It's a good idea dont get me wrong but i dont like the though of taking all those parking spaces again and mean more traffic which means either more bitchy drivers or more hipsters... im fine with them just marking out a section(bike path) of the street for bikes or like in LBC the green lane... when i went down their in the LA>LBC>OC ride cars knew and moved to the other lanes i felt safe

It works great in Europe. Why wouldn't it work here?

The cars still have parking they just moved it out to where a third lane was. You have a buffer zone from traffic with parked cars. I like the idea, but anything in LA that has to do with Bikes takes political will. I don't see any politicians in LA do what Sam Adams has done over the last few years in PDX. It's nice to dream though.
I also liked the green wave we road in LB. I think sharrows are good but the green path really made it stand out.
