1 Reason why a Victorville Mass ride is hard to start

Apparently, the entire tri-community area of Apple Valley, Victorville and Hesperia are contract cities of the San Bernardino Sheriffs Dept.
Those once-a-year rides I post about only seem to go through due to the organizers actually warning authorities ahead of time.
I've toyed with the idea of getting an MR-style, monthly ride started up here for a while now with the assistance of some better, public speakers I've come across.
Basically, I route it, scan it, plan it, then get my other friend(Mike, he's the guy I bring down to the rides sometimes) to sell the idea to others due to his better salesmanship qualities.
Anywho, he's come back to me on several occasions on why alot of the youngsters around here don't think it will work if we pursue it with the guerrilla concept in mind.
I heard about how badly that "mini Burning Man" got torn apart near Bell Mountain that user1 and marcus and some others went out to last year, talk about shitting on the parade.
However, this video of "Go SK8 Day '08" in Victorville is similar to what we all do down in the LA Basin all the time, but this is just plain ugly.
After watching this, I begin to wonder how badly the shit will come flying down if a bunch of innocent parents and kids are caught in some, "overreaction crossfire".
Don't know if there was a "Go SK8 Day '09", but if there was, I didn't see a soul.
Well, the general consensus of San Bernardino County as a whole is that it's merely become the dumping ground of the state.
I've heard and witnessed plenty of examples of the sheriffs department here consisting of a good number of rejects and terminations from other departments.
Then there's also the treatment one would get from crossing over into San Bernardino County from LA or Riverside County.
While the deputies could be lenient for something like a "light buzz" on that side of the county line, the guys over here will rip you a new one.
At this point, it's either 800MHZ scanners to keep an eye out for prowling sheriffs units, or do an AM mass ride and piss off the elite cadre of spandex warriors.
And who knows?
With the recent cuts in the departments budget up here and this county being one of the highest unemployed than the rest of the state, we could just say "fuck it" and see if the bite is as hard as it was in the video.
