Was trying to figure out what the ride up to Mt Wilson would be like following the Station Fire

found this webcam that has a live picture from the radio towers every two minutes

and this blog about the prospects of the observatory burning down (spoiler: it probably won't)

and this excellent map of the fires from the LA Times

I suppose the ride up the 2 will be ghostly but at least Wilson looks to be doing ok (then again, you might rethink your desire to ride up there at all if you read this 1997 article from Outside Magazine about crime in the Angeles National Forest). And this will clearly add to the whole Mt. Eerie mystique that it's already got going for it.

that so sad. i go up there with some regularity and ive seen it green some of the time but this is just sad. the good news is there will be nothing but clean new growth next year.
