But it won't happen at the CRANK MOB that is not happening this weekend. It especially won't happen at 10pm at Sawtelle & La Grange on the 18th.
I am certainly NOT going to dress up as Harry Potter either.
One thing is for certain though:
The Core Elite Valet Parking Service for Sara Bond commences the next time it has the possibility of commencing, unlike CRANK MOB which will not be commencing this Saturday @ Sawtelle & La Grance @ 10pm.

p.s. sara crashed last night and had to go to the hospital. i wasnt there so im calling her in like 12 minutes to see whats going on. i figure 10 is a reasonable time to call someone.

i just talked to her.
she and other riders went on the freeway and she hit a grate? or something she didnt see. Someone took her to the hospital and she has staples on the back of her head. she's not in too much pain but she's worried about her bike. Its at Vlads house i think and a few people said its fine but someone else said it might need a new tire.
im not the best informer. sowwy.

I was with Sara when she fell last night.
We were on the 10 freeway going East when she hit a grate. Her wheel got caught and she flipped, rolled, slid.
When I turned around she was unconscious laying flat on the ground.
After a few minutes her eyes opened and she was unable to focus them. We waited a bit, then slowly walked of of the freeway (with an escort which we lied to about making a wrong turn heh)
By the time we were off, Sara had no recollection of what had happened and couldnt remember each time I told her.
She sat on the curb and other ridazz came up to help.
Then we discovered that the back of her head was bleeding.
Thankfully, Jonah rolled by in a vehicle, allowing Sara and Ryan to go to the ER with him, where a few of us met them.
Turns out Sara had two mad gashes in her head and needed staples.
She took it like a champ and funny, the whole time was stressing over the health of her bike.
SPEEDY RECOVERY SARA.

Sara's coming by to pick up her bike in 20 minutes. Sean and I had a look at the bike after everyone else left for the hospital last night, the rear rim got bent right at the weld, the wheel needs to be rebuilt with a new one, otherwise everything is ok with the bike. Sara sounded well on the phone, too.

even if its from crashing your bicycle on the freeway YOU NEVER MOVE SOMEONE WHO HAS A SUSPECTED HEAD, NECK, OR BACK INJURY. EVER.

I didnt move her, she got up on her own. By then, she couldnt feel pain anywhere and was just worried about getting off of the freeway.
I could't leave her there to maybe wander or roll into a dangerous position.

i'm glad she's okay but where did she hit her head? she and i wear the same helmet so i'm concerned..i would assume she was wearing it because i've never seen her without it. scary. no more freeway rides!

it doesnt matter where they crash, even if they want to get up on their own, dont let them. adrenaline and shock are why victims cant feel any pain when they come to after being unconscious.

RBI is right, there were classic signs of a concussion too. Remember that stuff for NEXT TIME, because there will be a next time.
BUT, it's been a day, and she seems OK. So let's leave it at that. I'm glad she's good. I get upset when I hear about crashes.
So, who's Sara Bond again?
ps. don't hesitate to call an ambulance, just remember to STATE CLEARLY, or have someone state that you can't afford the costs. I forget what the term is... it was mentioned on a thread a few weeks ago.

dont wear that helmet any more. its been through a wreck and it served its purpose. its time to get a new one. if its a bell brand helmet, you can mail it back to them and they will replace it.

giro used to do the helmet return thing too. but people started smashing their helmets with sledgehammers and whatnot saying "omg i was in a horrible accident, plz send nu helmet kthnxbi!" and i think they stopped doing it.

Cost has pretty much NO relation to safety in bicycle helmets (unless you buy the full-face Bell Drop, which is ASTM certified for downhill MTB racing). Most helmets sold are CPSC certified, so the real difference in cost is the design and the amount of vents.
It would be interesting to hear what happened to Sara, as it's weird that she got gashes where her helmet was. Did something come through the helmet? Or did the helmet get dislodged when she fell?

Also, thank Goodness she didn't suffer any brain damage or serious head trauma... her helmet was cracked all along the back.
I'm actually surprised at how mobile and active she is today... as if nothing had happened less than 10 hours ago!

yes, my helmet is split three ways in the back, i believe it saved my life and have another new helmet to wear. i have ten staples in the back of my head which has been a pretty interesting feeling.
today i went to Palms and saw Albert who gave me a new rim and spokes and fixed my seat for an awesome price. The Phoenix has risen again- can't wait to ride her, tho i can only promise i am taking today off.. hehehehe!
i am not going to C.R.A.N.K. MOB and i will not see any of you there! but i do appreciate everything and love you all immensely, no words right now could express really all the love that i feel.

The injection-mold microshell construction helmet
is designed to crush on impact.
The idea is that the helmet absorbs the crash. It is suppose to not only protect your skull but your neck, which could snap in a serious crash.
The helmet is a one-time crash deal. Once damaged you must get a new one, though some companies like Bell, give you credit on a new helmet if you mail in the damaged one.
The BMX style helmet is a hardshell helmet.
It can be used in multiple crashes. The primary design is like a combat helmet, its hardshell protects your head from being cracked like and eggshell. Though you could still suffer from a concussion from the impact, or your neck could compress in the crash, since there is no absorption properties.
