I like this
particular site , gives you a good rundown on how now to freeze up on a budget.
If only I found this thing sooner, the cold desert winters would've been a little more comfy and less irritable.
Up here, we've only got two seasons, extremely hot(like) and extremely cold, sort of like a high/low only setting.

He only thing I hate about the winter is that my asthma makes me feel like I'm going to suffocate when I fall asleep.

Only thing I'd like to find are some cold weather shoe covers that can go over regular shoes.
Everything neoprene seems to only go over cycling cleats and that's it.

What desert do you live in that it gets so cold?

Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, we're 4,000 feet above sea level and the weather pattern in this short region is not the same as everything below the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mtns.
While it could be 55-65 degrees at this time of the night and year in the LA basin, it could be 25-30 degrees at the same time up here.

Why people would brave the extremities and getting their children sick in order to obtain a cheaper house is beyond me.
On another note, the weather actually starts getting warmer once you get near Vegas.
But, for those of you that have been out that way, there's the "Mountain Pass" region where you climb and then drop back down some good feet towards Whiskey Petes on the Nevada side.

Cold? I still overheat in a thin sweat shirt.

It takes me a little while to warm up, I've got tropical blood within me and I was ironically born in the cold MidWest.
Anywho, bought some $7 sweatpants, some $20 snowboarding gloves and I'm going to give the night cycle another test tonight.
If I feel a tad more toasted than I did last night, then I've just proven that overpriced shit like Goretex isn't that necessary for this nipply air.

Me too man, it actually hit me earlier this season than it did last season which is so not cool at all.

take a look at Louis Garneau shoe covers, they seem to have a pretty large opening at the bottom, and velcro everywhere to secure your shoe cover ... it might work with regular shoes
